Our annual tradition is right around the corner, and we’re excited to continue Run for Rocky VIRTUALLY! And because this year will be different, please keep reading to see what’s changed and how you can support!
How do you do Run for Rocky virtually?
Starting next week, Tuesday, October 27, we have designated times for students to go out and get active. Your children can go out and run, walk, jump rope – whatever they want to do to get active. They can also be active in their front yard, back yard or in their neighborhood. If your child has a conflict during the times listed below, they can participate in any of the other time slots, or
if they want to participate with a sibling, that is perfectly fine as well. It’s all about flexibility!
When does my child participate?
Here’s our schedule for the week. Remember, this if flexible and if your child wants to participate on a different day, no worries!
- Tuesday, October 27 – grades K-2 participate from 3:00-4:00pm
- Wednesday, October 28 – grades 3-4 participate from 3:00-4:00pm
- Thursday, October 29 – grades 5-6 participate from 3:00-4:00pm
- Friday, October 30 – make up day if inclement weather (at your leisure)
Will there be prizes?
Of course there will be prizes! We will be hosting the Large Prize Raffle following the fundraising period (ends November 6) and some of the prizes include a Hydro Flask Water Bottle, Echo Dot for Kids, Kindle Paperwhite, Mini iPad and Nintendo Switch. For every $50 in donations received, your child’s name will be entered into the Large Prize raffle (1 time per $50) for a chance to win one of our great prizes.

Are there more prizes and incentives to participate?
Again…of course! From Tuesday through Friday, each day, the class that has the highest amount of donations raised will get an additional prize from their teacher. We can’t spoil that surprise, but maybe some extra free time in class? A virtual game? No homework? Keep those donations coming in and your child will get to tell you all about it! And speaking of our teachers, as a way of saying thank you to them for showing their school spirit and helping us raise funds for the school, we will host a special “teachers-only” raffle. For 2 every $200 that a classroom raises, the classroom teacher will get his/her name in the teacher
raffle for one of two $150 gift cards from Amazon. Winners for those prizes will be announced when the fundraising period ends on November 6th.
How else do we show our school spirit next week? SPIRIT DAYS!
Next week, we encourage your child to participate in our spirit days. On the day of their “run”, we would ask them to wear one of their old Run for Rocky shirts while out and about (or an older siblings, if they have one). Otherwise, here’s the schedule for the week:
Tuesday – Crazy Hat Day
Wednesday – Crazy Hair/Clothes Day
Thursday – Pajama Day
Friday – Halloween costume (no masks, no weapons or accessories), or something Orange for Halloween
Whew, that’s a lot. So what do I do to help contribute for my child and the PTA?
Well thanks for asking! This is the PTA’s biggest fundraiser of the year, and although we are virtually-learning, the PTA still needs to raise funds to pay for programs and technology, provide resources and training for our teachers, and activities for our children. Our goal is to raise $25,000 through our Virtual Run for Rocky, and we appreciate all the continued support of our Mantua families.
