Athletics- Week of October 19th

Out of Season Practice Schedule

We have many teams who have scheduled out of season practices. Along with the physical, an  Emergency Care Card is also required to participate. It is important that you contact the coach to let him/her know you are coming to the practice, so a drop off time can be scheduled

An updated "Out of Season Practice" calendar can be found here.  If you have questions abut a specific sport, please reach out to the coach. A list of contact information for our coaches can be found here

*Out of season practice are not required to tryout for the team once the season starts. These practices are completely optional and will have no bearing on whether or not an athlete makes the team.

Physicals

Any athlete participating in an "Out of Season Practice" must have to have a physical on file. Please visit the link below for the physical form and directions on where to email the form. Physicals must be dated after May 1, 2020

FAQ's

1.If the COVID situation improves prior to December is there the ability to adjust the schedule to allow for the seasons to be longer?

Yes, If the health conditions do improve the VHSL has said they are willing to look at an early start date.

2. Why are clubs and summer leagues allowed to play, but the high schools are not allowing it?

As a school system we must follow the Governor’s guidelines, along with the guidelines we have been given by FCPS and the VHSL

3. The seasons overlap. Will kids still be able to play multiple sports?

Yes, we still want to encourage kids to play multiple sports. The overlapping of seasons is not much different as in years past. The last date of each season would be the state championship game. If athletes are on a team that makes a deep run in the playoffs, they will be able to tryout for the next season’s team without penalty.

4. When will physicals be due and how do we turn them in?

Physicals will be due prior to the beginning of each season. Only one physical (dated after May 1 2020) is necessary for the entire school year. If your child chooses to participate in an out of season practice, physicals would be due prior to being able to participate (This goes into effect September 8th). All form are available at:

https://mcleanactivities.org/main/otherad/contentID/30271135

After all forms are complete please email them to mcleanphysicals@gmail.com

5. Are teams allowed to have practices or workouts during this time?

We are currently allowed to have out of season conditioning workouts. Please contact the Head Coach for any details about out of season practices.

6. How can I contact a coach?

Please visit http://mcleanactivities.org/library/files/mcleanactivities_40/files/Mclean%20Coaches%20Info.pdf

7. What About Crew and Dance?

Crew is not recognized as a sport by the VHSL, but is recognized as a Club Sport by FCPS. Crew will participate during the spring sports season. Dance is considered a Performance Club. Currently Dance can only meet virtually.
