Family Survey: We want your feedback!
We believe that in a virtual environment, strengthening the connection and communication between school and our families is as important as ever. As part of our School Improvement and Innovation Plan (SIIP) for the year 2020-2021, we have continued to make family engagement our goal for a third consecutive year. We are confident that our partnership during this time will have a more positive impact on our students.

As in the past, we are asking you to answer a short, few questions through our Family Engagement Survey which will guide our planning for the year. We want your feedback! Please take a moment to respond to the survey in the language of your choosing, English, Korean or Spanish.

I welcome your feedback, suggestions and questions. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me.

Sincerely,

Amy Goodloe, Principal

Tech Support for Parents and Students

Tips for Online Learning Success:

A webpage has been published to support students with distance learning. The Tips for Online Learning Success page has suggestions for students; technology tips for families; troubleshooting guides; and links to the parent and student tech support sites.

To support families who are working with their children during distance learning, FCPS has launched a new Parent Technology Help Desk, effective Monday, August 24. The help desk can be reached at 833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS) and will be answered by staff members between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., seven days a week.

FCPS has also set up Parent and Student Technology Support portal at https://itweb.fcps.edu/itsupport/ to allow older students and parents/guardians to request technology help directly. When a support request ticket is entered through the portal, it is auto-routed to the TSSpec at the appropriate site to expedite service.

Positivity Project - Other People Mindset

This week students discussed 'Being present and giving others my attention'

Here are some conversation starters to discuss with your child:

How many of you have been in a conversation with another person who is looking at their phone while you are talking? How does it make you feel?

Do you have rules in your family about technology during meals? If so, what are they and what is the purpose?

8th graders watched and discussed this video on Being Present.
