Upcoming Dates
Dear Floris Families,
We are so excited to have received photos for the Virtual Harvest Parade and can't wait to see the finished product. If you have not yet sent your picture, there is still time. Please email the photo of your child to wimcgrath@fcps.edu by tonight. We are looking forward to next week's Spirit Week and can't wait to see all of the fun outfits and thrilling treats.
Please remember that next Friday, October 30, is the end of the quarter and a two-hour early release for students.
We want to remind families that as we shift to the cohorts of in-person learning, we may need to make some classroom changes depending on our numbers and choices by parents and staff. The plan is to keep those changes to a minimum, yet we know that it is not possible to shift to in-person without some changes. As we continue to receive additional information about plans to return more students to the building, we will share what we know. Please know that the health and safety of students and staff is always foremost in any planning to return people to the building.
There is still time to "Go Paperless" for your child's progress report. Please note, if you choose the paperless option, the Progress Reports go live on November 7th. Paper copies will be mailed and should be received in your homes by November 20th.
Have a great weekend!

Show us your creative talents while thinking about the world around us. Pumpkin artists are encouraged to incorporate natural materials (e.g. acorns, leaves, flowers, sticks…) and/or non-toxic Earth-friendly paints. Photos of your creation may be submitted to Sarah de Kramer at shdekramer@fcps.edu by Oct. 31. Awards will be given under two categories: Most Creative Use of Natural Materials and Best Representation of the theme, “Our Beautiful Earth.”

Positivity Project
Being Present and Giving Others my Attention
As we continue to grow the concept of Other People Mindset next week, students will be introduced to the concepts surrounding “being present and giving others my attention.” During the week, students will have daily discussions and activities focusing on the importance of giving your full attention to whatever you are doing, whether it’s learning in our virtual classrooms, working one on one with a buddy, playing with friends, or eating dinner with their family.
“One of the most sincere forms of respect is actually listening to what another has to say.” – Bryant McGill (Human Potential Thought Leader, Best-Selling Author, Top Social Media Influencer, and United Nations Appointed Global Champion).
You may also visit P2 for Families and use the password P2 to access activities and tools for you to use at home with your children.
First Quarter Positivity in Action Celebration
During First Quarter, Floris students have been learning about the character traits of curiosity, teamwork and open-mindedness. To celebrate these traits, we invite all students to create a poster reflecting one of the three attributes.
If you would like to participate, please demonstrate what one of these traits means to you through pictures, words, drawings, etc. on a poster. Upload a video of you sharing your poster to our school-wide FlipGrid!
