Dogwood ES - Weekly Message

Dear Dogwood Families,

As we continue the work around PEACE (peace, equity, access, connection, and excellence) at Dogwood, we are so thankful for your continued partnership.  If you haven’t already done so, we want to encourage every family to connect with our teachers through the Talking Points app.  If you need assistance in setting it up, please give us a call and we are happy to support you!

We are excited to provide access to all students and families in the next few weeks through the Bus Delivery program!  We will have more information coming in the next few days...please be on the lookout.

Sincerely,

Mie Devers

Student Laptop Maintenance Tips & Tech Support

An important maintenance task that can keep your school laptop performing throughout the school year is regularly restarting it. This both installs updates and ends background processes that accumulate over time and cause slowness. We would like to recommend shutting down at the end of the school day. On Tuesday nights, leave it on, but plugged in, and restart the device on Wednesday mornings. Microsoft uses Tuesdays to push out updates, and this will ensure that they are installed in a timely manner.

More help for troubleshooting other issues you may experience can be found on FCPS’s website: Tech Support for Families. It may be very helpful to students to bookmark this site, as it will help solve most common problems. Like you, we want our students to have the best experience possible in this virtual environment!

Parent Feedback Request

As you know, your partnership with Dogwood is valued and critical to the success of our school community, and we want to hear from you!  Our vision is for PEACE for our entire school community: P- Peace, E- Equity, A- Access, C- Connection, E- Excellence.  Please take a few moments to provide your feedback HERE around how we can best support PEACE with your Hopes & Dreams for your child or children this school year, and ways we can best engage with you.  Thank you so much!

Reminder: Please Return Forms

Forms

Parents, we need your help!  As you know, there are several forms that are required to be completed at the start of each school year.  We are requesting that these beginning of the year forms be completed virtually, if possible.  However, we know it may be more convenient to receive a paper copy to return to the school.  You have received paper copies in the mail and now can safely return them to our green Drop Box outside of the front of the school.  If you are new to Dogwood, you already completed most of these forms when you registered your child.
