Hello Haycock...10.16.20

today

Parents and Families,

We had a good day of planning and learning on this past Monday, the student holiday. Several staff members shared ideas and strategies for creating high quality, engaging online instruction for our students. We learned from the experts in the house!

Please make sure to sign the Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R) acknowledgement form sent out again yesterday. https://forms.gle/kQuX3LJWvvrEGHBz9   This form must be signed each year for each student. SR&R materials and resources are located here www.fcps.edu/srr. Our assistant principals, Dana Chen and Heather Boyd, have reviewed SR&R with all our students.

Please continue to share information with me about your student and how they are doing:

Virtual Learning Feedback

Thank you for your assistance and support from home.

TODAY is the Last Day of our Haycock PTA Fundraising and Membership Drive

If you haven’t been involved before, the PTA (Parent/Teacher Association) is a great way to stay informed and involved in the Haycock Community.  The PTA holds monthly meetings, hosts events (virtually this year), sponsors clubs like Science Olympiad, Girls on the Run and Mathcounts.  The money raised by the PTA goes to critical school needs like library books, on-line resources, continuing education for teachers, and community building activities.

If you haven’t joined the PTA or contributed to our Armchair Fundraiser, click on the link below.

We need 44 more families to join and help us raise the remaining $4,700 to our goal.

School Spirit Day - Friday, October 30

Book Character Day

Students and staff are invited to dress up as their favorite book character.  Classes may decide to coordinate on characters or themes, or students may decide to dress as individual characters.  All we ask is that students do not wear masks as we want to see students’ faces in this virtual world!

HAYCOCK SPIRIT WEAR !!!

Deadline to purchase is November 1st.

There is an AWESOME selection of t-shirts, sweatshirts, pajama pants, pullovers, hats and more.  For adults and kids!!

Attention 5th and 6th graders!

Are you interested in becoming a part of Haycock’s SCA?

The process may look different this year, but we are so excited to continue this tradition and elect officers for the 2020-2021 school year!

The SCA helps to spread positivity within the Haycock community.  SCA officers help to develop the fun spirit weeks that we can have virtually as well as come up with fundraising ideas that help others in the community.

To be an SCA officer, you must:

  • Attend monthly meetings before school
  • Promote school spirit days, fundraisers, and other SCA events
  • Check your fcpsschools email account weekly in order to stay in contact with other officers and advisors
  • Enjoy working as part of a team and be a positive role model and leader at Haycock

Please be aware meetings that are held for SCA take place mornings before school, beginning around 8:30 am. Make sure that this is something you can commit to all year before deciding to apply.

The deadline to apply is Monday, October 19th at 3:00 p.m.

Click Here for the link to the application.

We look forward to reading your applications!

Ms. Baker and Mrs. Hecht

Did You Know …?

This year, elementary parents have the option to support the environment and go paperless!

Please log into your Parent View account, select "My Account" and check the "Go Paperless" option.  Parents can view student report cards and receive electronic communications, rather than paper copies.

Take advantage of this option.  Save our trees and help the environment!

Return to School Town Hall

Dr. Brabrand is conducting a Return to School Town Hall on Monday, October 19 at 7:00.  Use the link below to access the Town Hall meeting.

Food and Nutrition Services

As many schools will be used as polling places on November 3rd, Food and Nutrition Services will not be providing meal service on Election Day.

We will provide two days-worth of meals on November 2nd.

Haycock Yearbooks

Haycock will have a yearbook this year and more information will be sent to parents at a later date.  In the meantime, please DELETE the email that families received from Lifetouch as we do NOT have a contract with Lifetouch.

Student Rights and Responsibilities

Dear Parents,

We need your help.  Teachers were given the wrong link to the Student Rights and Responsibilities Parent Acknowledgement Forms.  Please take a minute to review and sign the SR & R form for each of your Haycock students, even if you had previously submitted your form.

Please review the Student Rights and Responsibilities and related resources at www.fcps.edu/srr.  After reviewing the information, fill out the SR&R Parent Acknowledgement Form using THIS link:

Thank you!
