The Positivity Project:

Being Present and Giving Others Your Attention

This week’s Positivity Project character strength is Being Present and Giving Others Your Attention. This is an especially important strength in our current virtual setting. Even as adults it is challenging to juggle phones, meetings, multiple open windows, and unexpected distractions. It is always important to realize that our brains are hardwired to focus on one thing at the expense of others. Removing excess stimuli from a work area can lead to more focus on the lesson. Talking with your student about how important being present for their lessons, even when it is virtual, can be another factor in their success!

Email a photo or example of your student being present and giving others his/her attention by 8:00 a.m. Monday (October 19) and we will do our best to exhibit as many as possible on next week’s edition of Good Morning Fairview! Submissions can be made to Mr. Nielsen: jpnielsen@fcps.edu .

Fairview PTA

Hello Fairview Families,

As the PTA board works to get this year started, we are still in search of committee chairs for the following committees:

Art Aide

Fundraising - Boxtops

Fundraising - sponsorships

Lost & Found (for when we are back in the building)

Supply Kits

Yearbook

If you are interested in any of these positions, please check out this link for descriptions: https://www.fairviewpta.org/commitee-s/committee-chair-responsibilitiesdescriptions.

If you have additional questions about a committee and/or want to step up to be a committee chair, please email Maria Mahoney at president@fairviewpta.org. There are some committees that will not be active during this virtual time, but that could change if our students start to go to school in person. Some committees may look a little different during the virtual time, but will still be needed.

If you are not quite ready to be a committee chair but want to join a committee as a member, please reach out as well! Every committee chair appreciates having support from committee members!

Thank you all for supporting Fairview!
