Science Olympiad

Calling Parents of 3rd through 6th graders who wish to further their children’s interest in STEM!

Science Olympiad inspires passion and improves your understanding in science, technology, engineering & mathematics (STEM) through collaboration and teamwork, hands-on experiences, variety and creativity in topics and skills, and fun and rewarding tournaments.

Science Olympiad (https://www.soinc.org/) is a school-based program for students from third grade through their senior year in high school. The Virginia chapter (https://virginiaso.org) engages over 3000 students each year, beginning in 3rd grade and extending through 12th. Students from Grades 3rd - 5th form Division A teams and Grades 5th - 6th form Division B teams. Teams progress through Regional tournaments to States to the National tournament.

Due to the pandemic this program will be all virtual but will still be a great opportunity for the kids to learn about Science and Technology. In addition, participating in elementary school is a good start to understanding the program. It would pave the path for future participation in SO in middle and high school, where student selection into school teams can be very competitive.

Based on the participation at the interest meeting, we have formed a Division A and a Division B team. At this time, we have a few open slots in both teams. If your child is interested in the program and would like to participate, or you need more information on the program please contact Deepa Seonie at academic.clubs.fespta@gmail.com by Wednesday, 10/14.
