Mr. Alex White

We would like to congratulate Mr. Alex White for being selected as the Region 3 Outstanding Secondary Teacher of the Year.  In his first year, Mr. White served as our Biology Team Lead, Director of School Science Fair and was the Weightlifting Club sponsor.   Mr. White  makes science come alive to his students by using project-based learning.  His students experience science rather than merely memorizing it.  A colleague who has been a teacher for more than 18 years stated that without hesitation Alex is not only one of the best new teachers, he is one of the finest teachers he has ever worked with.  Join us in congratulating Me. White on this prestigious accomplishment!  #MajorPride

FCPS Tip line on student computers

At Mount Vernon High School, we are committed to ensuring a safe environment so all students may learn.  For this reason, all student computers will be loaded with an icon that, when clicked, will take them to the FCPS tip line.  Students who are subjected to harassment of any kind, or who witness harassment are encouraged to report.  Only by working together can we ensure that all students feel comfortable at school.

When you use the FPCS Tip line, your report goes directly to the office of Safety and Security.  Officers monitor this tip line 24-7 and report to the school principal any reports that are made.

Students are encouraged to go to any nearby FCPS school, and while in the parking lot, boot up their computer and log on.  This icon will automatically load onto their computer and be available for their use if they ever feel they need it.
