Exciting News from the Ravensworth ES Library

We are excited to be offering curbside book pickup for 5th and 6th grade RES students!

Our first pickup days will be on Monday, October 12, from 1pm-3pm and Monday, October 19, from 9am-11am and 1pm-3pm. Here’s how it works:

Students who wanted to participate in the first curbside event put up to 5 books on hold for pickup by the 8:30am deadline on 10/7.

Please see the link below for all the details for the curbside service steps: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1D4W78iySS2FUdYmsvkJGcKaHt5mX1LMhkmNFv8Uo72o/edit?usp=sharing (you must be logged in to your child’s FCPS Google apps account to access the link). *This information is also available in the 5th/6th Grade Library Google Classroom under the topic, “Curbside Service.”

Emails will be sent to student Gmail accounts when holds are ready to be picked up.  The email will contain a Sign-Up Genius link for parents to use to sign up for a date and time to pick the books up. Please wait for this email and sign up for a slot before coming to school for book pickup.

Returning books

  • Library books may be returned to RES on weekdays, preferably from 8:30am to 3:30pm. There will be marked bins outside the front entrance where books returns can be dropped off.
  • If you still have books out from last year, please return them ASAP.  If you would like to know if your child has overdue books from last year, they can view their checkouts on their library account at https://search.follettsoftware.com/metasearch/ui/103862 , or you can email Mrs. Sloan at jasloan@fcps.edu

If you have any questions about any library-related matters, please contact Mrs. Sloan at jasloan@fcps.edu

Positivity Project

This year, Ravensworth will continue implementing the Positivity Project (P2). P2 is dedicated to empowering America’s youth to build strong relationships and to understand, appreciate, and exemplify the character strengths in us all. Every 1-2 weeks, students learn about a new character strength.

It is easier than ever for Ravensworth families to access P2 resources this year! The site P2 For Families is available for connecting P2 to your home and you can learn more about the site here. Many of the slides are password protected and the password is P2 (case-sensitive).

Trait for the Week of October 5th: Open-mindedness

Connecting Bluetooth headphones and home printers to FCPS computers

Good news for elementary school students!  If a student takes his/her laptop to the school’s bus loop or parking lot and reboots it twice, the student’s account will have the ability to add printer, Bluetooth, and change the displaying settings.  Access to control and settings are now enabled for student accounts.

Elementary Progress Reports - Go Paperless

The “Go Paperless” option is now available to all elementary school parents to allow parents to only receive online progress reports starting the first quarter of School Year 2020-21. Choosing this option will not impact any mailings from FCPS other than the progress reports for elementary school students and report cards for secondary students.

To take advantage of the paperless options, parents and/or guardians must log into ParentVUE, then go to “My Account” and select "Go Paperless".  All parents and/or guardians who live with the student and share the same address must have a SIS ParentVUE account and must select the paperless option to prevent mailing of the printed progress reports.

The “Go Paperless” option will apply to all associated students, no matter what school level. If the associated parent and/or guardian has already selected “Go Paperless” for their secondary student, the option will now apply to any elementary school siblings as well.

If you do not have a ParentVue Account, please contact our office assistant Sheryl Hall at sghall@fcps.edu.

Best of all, Memberhub allows you to share your contact information with other PTA members and connect with other families in the same class and grade as your children.

To join Ravensworth PTA and become part of the student directory go to: https://ravensworth.new.memberhub.store/store.

There are two membership options plus an option to make an additional donation to the PTA. Please consider donating as our major fundraiser Run 4 Ravensworth was one of many great events that was cancelled last year

Family Membership: $20.00 (two adults) *

Single Membership: $10.00 (one adult) *

*A small processing fee will be added to each transaction

Only PTA members will be listed in and have access to the directory. Once your membership is processed you will receive an email with directions on how to set up your profile on Memberhub.  If you need help setting up your profile email Karin Floyd at correspondsec@ravensworthpta.org.
