Tech Tips
Restart Computer
Have you restarted your child's computer lately? FCPS computers receive updates every week. Restarting the computer is the best way for these updates to install and take effect and keep the computer running efficiently. Restarting can update systems that will help the Chrome browser run properly as well.
To restart the computer, click on the windows icon, choose the power icon, and select RESTART from the list. Doing this 2 times in a row a couple times a week will help the computer function efficiently.
Black Screen
Have you experienced a black screen on the computer? If the computer is not used for an extended period of time, the screen will shut off and the machine may go to "sleep" even when it is plugged in. Check to see if the lights are on or the power light is fading in and out. If this happens touch the power button and wait for the screen to come back up. You will need to reenter your child's password.
Laptop/Tech Support
If you need support with your FCPS issued laptop, please submit a ticket https://itweb.fcps.edu/itsupport/. You can also call 1-833-921-3277 for live support and access our KP website Parent IT portal for access to troubleshooting resources.
Kings Park Pilot
Kings Park Elementary School has been selected as a pilot location for a small group of students to return to in-person instruction for a designated period of time. The pilot will take place from October 20th- October 23rd. The pilot includes one first grade class and will have approximately 8-10 students on site with the classroom teacher and appropriate support staff. The other students in the classroom will be attending at the same time virtually from home. All proper health and safety protocols will be adhered to for in-person instruction. The families of the selected classroom have been notified.
PTA News
The Kings Park/Kings Glen PTA’s Dance Fit Fundraiser is here!
In years past, the PTA has hosted an annual Fun Run with Boosterthon. Historically, the Boosterthon Fun Run has served as the PTA's most successful fundraiser each year. Although this year looks different, we are hoping it will be just as successful with your help!
Usually students gather pledges for every lap around the Fun Run track, but this year our students are gathering pledges for every MINUTE they stay active in our virtual Dance Fit event! The dance fit event is 35 minutes long. Students will be instructed through fitness activities by the Booster Dance Crew and dancing along to “Just Dance” themed dances. Here’s how you can support Kings Park and Kings Glen: 1. REGISTER your student(s) on funrun.com today. It takes 30 seconds! 2. SHARE with 5 family/friends using the SHARE tools on funrun.com 3. GIVE a donation if you are able to give.
Save the date for our next PTA meeting -- October 15 via Zoom! The PTA is excited to welcome KP/KG Advanced Academic Resource Teachers (AART) Cindy Agner and Mary Keane for a short presentation and an opportunity to take your questions. See the PTA's Facebook group or the 10/1 PTA newsletter for call-in information -- or send an email to kpkgpta@gmail.com. Have you joined the PTA for the 2020-2021 school year? Visit our website to join!
