A Note from Dr. Goodloe
Dear Rocky Run Families and Students,
I hope that each of our families has had a good week. As we move week by week through virtual learning I continue to reflect on our growth and partnership as a school community. Thank you for your ongoing support and feedback. Student attendance and engagement continues to be high for our students and our teachers continually comment on the amazing work children are producing. After school program participation at Rocky Run and in partnership with other middle schools is increasing by the week as we continue to expand our offerings. We are learning from students every day too and value each and every voice, suggestion and question. Thank you.
Monday October 12: Student Holiday
- No Rock Time Check In, No office hours
- FCPS recognize Indigenous Peoples Day
- Instructional Staff will be engaged in planning, grading and personal professional development
Family Survey: We want your feedback!
We believe that in a virtual environment, strengthening the connection and communication between school and our families is as important as ever. As part of our School Improvement and Innovation Plan (SIIP) for the year 2020-2021, we have continued to make family engagement our goal for a third consecutive year. We are confident that our partnership during this time will have a more positive impact on our students.
As in the past, we are asking you to answer a short, few questions through our Family Engagement Survey which will guide our planning for the year. We want your feedback! Please take a moment to respond to the survey in the language of your choosing, English, Korean or Spanish.
I welcome your feedback, suggestions and questions. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
Sincerely,
Amy Goodloe, Principal

Tech Support for Parents and Students
Tips for Online Learning Success:
A webpage has been published to support students with distance learning. The Tips for Online Learning Success page has suggestions for students; technology tips for families; troubleshooting guides; and links to the parent and student tech support sites.
To support families who are working with their children during distance learning, FCPS has launched a new Parent Technology Help Desk, effective Monday, August 24. The help desk can be reached at 833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS) and will be answered by staff members between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., seven days a week.
FCPS has also set up Parent and Student Technology Support portal at https://itweb.fcps.edu/itsupport/ to allow older students and parents/guardians to request technology help directly. When a support request ticket is entered through the portal, it is auto-routed to the TSSpec at the appropriate site to expedite service.
