Students have been working hard to earn virtual Tiger Tickets by showing strong digital citizenship in their online classes. Each class earns a Tiger Paw every time they get 15 Tiger Tickets. This week at Bailey’s Upper we reached our first school wide goal of 10 Tiger Paws to earn our first spirit day of the year! We will celebrate Pajama Day on Friday, October 9th. Students may participate by wearing pajamas as they learn throughout the day.

Below are two coping strategies that you can use with your child when they are feeling stressed, frustrated, angry, or anxious and need help them to calm down. Have your child follow the directions, one color or sense at a time, to identify objects around them. They can repeat the strategies multiple times if needed, say them out loud to you or do it silently, and do it on their own. They can also use these strategies as brain and screen breaks.
Additional strategies can be found by visiting our google site at https://sites.google.com/fcpsschools.net/buppercounselors/home (must be logged into your child’s google account to access).

Overdrive and Libby – Online Books From The Public Library
The Fairfax County Public Libraries have so many online books available to borrow! You can go to a library to sign up. They are now open – or sign up for a card online. Go to the website at
to sign up. Then you can search under books/movies/audio and choose Overdrive. Search to see if there is a book you would like to read. When you find one, use your library card to borrow it online (or use your temporary ID if you just signed up for a card). You can read the book on your laptop or other device. If you download the Libby app for your phone or tablet, the ebooks you borrowed will automatically load into Libby and be ready to read or listen to. Here are some of the books you can find Overdrive & Libby.
Here is a video that was created by a librarian at another school. It shows you how to sign up for a library card online.
Happy Reading!
