Send Us Your Forms

Oak View reminds families to submit their important Beginning of the School Year forms. While this start to the year has not been in the building, we still require forms for each student. To date, we have collected only one-fourth of our enrollment! Please review the email sent to all families on Friday, September 4 for specifics and note one change: Health Information should be sent via secure portal at wecare@school. Updating your child's Emergency Care Card will also capture pertinent health information. All other forms may be submitted to OakViewForms@fcps.edu. Thank you for getting these in as soon as possible.

Thanks for going Back to School

Oak View thanks all families who made it to our Virtual Back to School Nights this past week. We had great attendance and recordings of sessions are available from your child's classroom teacher. We were glad to share the important updates and appreciative of your support.

Eagle Challenge #2: Launches Monday!

Oak View was delighted for our response to our first Eagle Challenge. Each Monday, we will launch a new challenge.  As a reminder, it is meant to be a fun, optional activity available to all OV students. It can be done at any time. Students, whose parents have completed the digital consent form, are invited to share a picture or video of their challenge results – the link for posting will be available in the Oak View Connection 24-7 site by Monday afternoon. This week’s challenge will take place in the great outdoors!

Monday Specials Choice Board

Oak View is excited to share the return of the Monday Specials Choice Board. Students will have the chance to select from a few live activities taught on Mondays by our specials teachers. These activities are an available option, designed to be completed in addition to the asynchronous work assigned by your child's classroom teacher. Your child can attend the ones they would like. Activities are offered multiple times throughout the morning to support students who may be accessing small group instruction as well. Check out a priority list below that may assist your Monday planning:

1. 8:30 AM Morning Check-In - ALL Students BBCU Homeroom Link

2. Specialized Small Groups for some students

3. Asynchronous work assigned by classroom teacher

4. Specials Choice Sessions and Eagle Challenge Opportunities

The live small group and specials sessions will happen in the morning and students have the remainder of the day to complete the asynchronous work assigned by their teachers.

NEW Tech Tip of the Week

Oak View will post Tech Tips here for families each week we have a new tip to share. This week's tip will help your FCPS laptops have a fresh start each morning and allow you to see the speaker full screen:

  • Turn OFF your computer every day!  Computers are a little bit like people, they need to rest to function best.  Various technical issues are solved by powering down the laptop each day.
  •  Click the corner! While your child's teacher has a slide showing on the main screen, you can see the other speakers in the bottom right corner. You can simply click the speaker in the bottom corner and that will become your full screen. This is recommended when a student or teacher is talking and the slide is not changing. You can toggle back to the slide full screen by clicking it in the corner.

Positivity Project Trait of the Week: Teamwork

On Monday, students will begin learning about the Positivity trait of teamwork.  Parents can access the 1-page teamwork character card overview on P2 for Families. The password was shared in Back to School Night sessions. We look forward to sharing the trait of the week and accompanying resources in this spot each week. Thank you for keeping the conversations going at home!

Digital Permission Required

Oak View thanks families who have already given permission for their child to access apps we will be using as part of our instruction. For those who still need to, please access this link. Permission is required before students can use all instructional applications teachers may be using as part of more engaging instructional opportunities. Parents can preview the list of options and sign off on all or some based on preference. The process requires knowledge of student ID#, access to parent email to receive security code.
