Library Curbside Pickup for Grades 4-6 Is Starting

Curbside Library Book Pickup for Grades 4-6 will begin on Wednesday, September 30, between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.!  Wear your mask and come to Brookfield’s Kiss n Ride Door to get library books for your children.  Cars and walkers are welcome.

Here’s how we’ll do it:

  •  We’ll have books already checked out to your child and ready to go when you come to pick them up.
  • You’ll also get a bookmark with your child’s name on it.
  • The bookmark has a list of choices your child can make for their next checkout. You can write in requests too.
  • Return the books and bookmark on Wednesday, Oct. 14th, between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., when you come to get your child’s next set of library books.

It’s important that you try to make it here on the 30th.  We won’t be able to make individual appointments.

Brookfield Grab and Go Meal Service

Brookfield is a Grab and Go meal site. Through December 31, 2020, the grab and go meals will be provided at no cost for students at several sites throughout the county. FCPS students are welcome to come to any of the sites to pick up a meal during these time periods.

All FCPS students (regardless of age) are eligible for free grab and go breakfast and lunch, as well as other county children under the age of 18. Adults picking up meals for children should let staff know how many children's meals they need. Adults may pay $2 for the meals as well. Meals for Saturday and Sunday will be distributed each Friday.

Incorporating Growth Mindset Strategies to Help Children Thrive, by FCPS & Fairfax County Government

Mindsets are groups of beliefs that guide how we interpret the world around us. They shape our behaviors and decisions, and they play a major role in how we set and obtain goals. Research pioneered by Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck suggests that people function on a continuum between having a “growth” mindset and a “fixed” mindset. While all of us have bits of both, finding ways to incorporate more of a growth mindset into our lives can help us to thrive and achieve our goals. To read more about growth mindset, click here.

Having Camera Issues?

FCPS created a series of help videos for families.

They created one called "Troubleshooting the Camera on your FCPS Laptop." If you are having trouble with your student's camera, this video can help.
