Return to School - Required Documents
Please make sure you have completed all of the required forms below for each student as we begin this school year.
Emergency Care Form via weCare@school
Information must be correct and what we will use in case of an emergency. We are asking all parents to review and update via weCare@school for each enrolled student. Having the most up-to-date information for all of our students is essential to our ability to best meet all students' needs in the event of an emergency.
Health Information Form
A health information form must be on file for all students. By updating “Current Health Conditions” and/or “Current Medical Care Details” in the emergency care form via weCare@school, this will be updated for the student.
Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R) Signature Page
The Student Rights and Responsibilities document explains expectations for student behavior and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable and supportive school environment. We ask that you use this document as a framework for discussing these expectations with your child or teen so that he or she is well prepared for success when the school year begins. You will also find that this publication includes information that you may need throughout the school year, including contact numbers and other resources.
Online access to review the FCPS SR&R is available here: https://www.fcps.edu/srr
Use this electronic link to the FCPS Student Rights and Responsibilities Parent Acknowledgement form. All parents and/or guardians must complete the acknowledgement form indicating they have reviewed and are familiar with the various rules and regulations that guide student conduct in FCPS schools. The form must be filled out one time per student. Students will be reviewing the SR&R in 3rd Period Advisory (Learning Seminar) on Thursday, September 17.
Parent Digital Tool Permission
This information is provided in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) to provide you with information about the measures FCPS takes to keep student data secure when using digital tools. By completing this digital form, you provide permission for your child to use the FCPS-approved online tools listed below as part of an instructional program.
More information for you to review regarding what digital tools your children may be using this year can be found here. Parents only need to complete this form one time and it will cover all classes.

2020-2021 Driver Education – Hour Requirements
To meet the requirement for juvenile licensing students must receive a minimum of 30 hours of driver education instruction. During virtual instruction, the 30 hours must be completed synchronously. Oakton Sophomores will complete Drivers Education during the First Quarter and first four weeks of the Second Quarter to meet this requirement.
Situations, where a student has a long-term absence, will be managed on a case-by-case basis to determine if the hour requirement can be met. Students with limited absences from driver education will need to make up time missed.
Quarterly Instruction Breakdown
- Quarter 1- Driver Ed (extended into 2nd quarter)
- Quarter 2-Physical Education
- Quarter 3- Health
- Quarter 4- Physical Education

Paperwork must be submitted to Oakton by December 11, 2020, to allow for processing prior to the College Board deadline; however, we encourage students to submit paperwork as early as possible. All paperwork is to be given to Shelley Wiederhold, SSD Coordinator at Oakton High School. Each of the following must be completed:

Processing for accommodations can take between 7-12 weeks, so we must have the paperwork in by December 11, 2020 to process before AP Testing in May. Paperwork should be delivered to Oakton High School, to the attention of Shelley Wiederhold, or emailed to swiederhold@fcps.edu
