Bucky's Bus Delivery Service Tomorrow

Supplies are on the way! Tomorrow Deer Park staff members will travel the neighborhood by school bus to deliver art and other supplies from teachers according to the bus stops and times listed below.
If you are unable to meet the bus tomorrow, you are welcome to come by the school at your convenience starting the following Monday, 9/28 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to pickup the supplies.

Please practice social distancing as the supplies are dropped off. Masks must be worn.
The school bus will be at each stop for approximately 10 minutes. You can use the stop most convenient for you.

Library News
Deer Park is starting an optional curbside pickup for library books for students that are interested in checking out print books. Students in Kindergarten and first grade can sign up for "Mystery Books" by filling out the Google form by Monday, Sept. 28th that was sent to their parent's email by their classroom teacher. Students in grades 2-6 are learning to put books on hold in their library classes. They can put books on hold by the Wednesday before their pick up date. Staff will pull the books and have them ready at the following curbside pick-up dates:
Grades K,1,3,5: Monday, October 5th from 2:00-4:00 pm
Grades 2,4,6: Tuesday, October 13th from 2:00-4:00 pm
Students should return any overdue books from last school year at their curbside pickup as well. There will be a bin to collect these items.

First Quarter Grading
Our First Quarter of the virtual school year will end on October 30th. As teachers continue to assess and test students, they will reach out directly to parents if there is a specific concern or area to be addressed. No interims will be sent home this first quarter. Progress reports will be mailed home the week of November 9th.
Emergency Care Cards
If you have not returned your child's Emergency care form, please review and update using WeCare@school. It is critical that we have up to date phone numbers and correct email in order to communicate all emergency and essential information. Wecare@school

After School Virtual Clubs
Put your thinking cap on and get ready to learn how fun science can be with Mad Science. In this club you’ll get to experiment with sound and vibrations, optical illusions, or learn the science behind magic, water and waves.
Get your creative juices flowing and try out Young Rembrandts. A drawing club that incorporates right and left brain learning to foster creativity, focus, and discipline.
Want a little competition? Silver Knights chess club is for you. Teaching all levels of players, they’re a Deer Park favorite.

Reflections Art Contest
Does your child like to draw or paint? Write stories or poetry? Compose their own music? Create new dances? Take photographs? Make their own videos on a smartphone or iPad? If they do, we have news for you.
This year we are participating in the National PTA’s Reflections Art Contest. The 2020-2021 theme is "I Matter Because..." Check out the Deer Park PTA page for all the details. Candy Donations NEEDED!
The PTA is collecting bags of candy for our October BOO-Grams Fundraiser! There's a collection bin in front of our school! Please include peanut free candy, goodie bag toys, and candy bags. We are collecting through October 2nd.

The PTA is hosting monthly virtual programs, starting off with Virginia259 Information Session on Thursday, October 8th at 7pm. Learn about saving for future higher education.
