Important Dates
Attendance Matters
Attendance drives everything! It is tied to almost every aspect of school performance and future outcomes.
Consider these important and interesting facts about attendance:
- Half of students who miss 2-4 days in September go on to miss nearly a month of school.
- Research shows that missing 10% of the school year (about 18 days total) negatively affects a student’s academic performance. That’s just two days a month, and that’s known as chronic absenteeism.
- Students who are chronically absent are over 7 times more likely to drop out.
- Dropouts make about $1 million less over a lifetime than graduates.
Asynchronous Learning Day on 9/23
Wednesday, 9/23 will be an asynchronous learning day for all students who are not participating in SAT testing.
Students will be provided asynchronous learning opportunities from each of their White Day teachers (Periods 2, 4, 6, 8).
Students should check Google Classroom, Blackboard 24/7 or their @fcpsschools.net Gmail for instructions from their teachers.
Books/Materials Distribution
Monday, 9/28 - Friday, 10/2
Students will have the opportunity to pick up books and other materials the week of September 28th.
Teachers will be communicating if they have items to hand out for their specific classes. The pick-up will be contactless and by appointment only.
Students/Families should drive onto school property at Door #8 and proceed through the car route as directed by our security team.
Students are reminded to please bring a copy of their schedule. It’s also helpful to have a sign in the car windshield with the student’s name and ID number.
As a reminder, all students and family members must remain in their cars and please remember to wear masks.
Please make an appointment here.

FCHS Drama News
FCHS SPOTLIGHT THEATRE COMPANY PRESENTS
The Invisible Man by John de Lancie, adapted from the story by HG Wells.
The Invisible Man is the story of a science experiment gone wrong. The young scientist Griffin stumbles upon a formula that makes him invisible! Come and hear what happens when Griffin risks everything to get the cure.
Just as in the days of radio when people tuned in to radio programming to escape the news of war, we hope you will join us October 30 and 31 at 7PM to listen in as FCHS Drama students take over the airwaves with this season appropriate story of mystery and suspense! Ticket information coming soon!
“Go Paperless” Report Card Option
Parents and/or guardians can opt to “Go Paperless” in ParentVUE and receive only online report cards. This will not impact any other mailings from FCPS other than the report cards for secondary students and progress reports for ES students.
To take advantage of the paperless options, parents and/or guardians will need to log into ParentVUE, then go to “My Account” and select "Go Paperless." All parents who live with the student and share the same address must have a SIS ParentVUE account and must select the paperless option to prevent mailing of the printed report cards.
The “Go Paperless” option will apply to all their associated students, no matter what school level.
Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R)
Parent/Guardian Acknowledgement
Parents and guardians, please review the Student Rights and Responsibilities and related resources at www.fcps.edu/srr. After reviewing the information, please help us by filling out the SR&R Parent Acknowledgement Form. The form must be filled out one time per student.
Parent Consent for Select Digital Resources
At FCHS, our teachers will use a variety of digital resources to support student learning and promote communication and collaboration with students and families. Some of the digital resources your child may use this year will require your consent before they can be used. You can find our school’s list of the resources that require parental consent here:
Included on this page is also a link to a form where the enrolling parent or guardian will need to indicate whether or not their student is allowed to use the list of digital resources this year. This page also provides more information about how FCPS carefully reviews digital resources for approval and why we must request your consent before using certain tools.
We encourage you to complete the parental consent for digital resources form as soon as possible, as your child will not be able to use the digital resources until we have received your permission.
Thank you for your attention to this important component of distance learning and support of our teachers!
