Dear GFES Families,

Congratulations we’ve now completed the 2nd week of school! We’d like to send a huge “Thank You” to every parent for making sure your children are present and participating in distance learning. You are a vital link in this educational process. The average of our attendance has been amazing-this week is at 98%. Students we’re hearing great news on you too! We appreciate your attendance but even more, so we think your participation in class and your following online class rules has been fabulous. Thank you for doing your best and working hard- Keep up the great work!

Parents while you are your child’s first teacher, please know we need you to partner with your classroom teacher as well. We appreciate the tremendous support our parents provide. With distance learning it will be helpful for your child to have an area at home designated and set up for their distance learning with their teacher and classmates. This area should be well lite, equipped with the school supplies from school, free from distractions as much as possible so that your child can focus on their studies. It is also helpful to turn off computers, TV’s, video games, as this may improve the speed of the WIFI, as those devices can take up bandwidth. Parents are welcome to be ‘observers’ in the online classes; however, we need the students as ‘participants. Please allow your student only to interact with their teachers and classmates. Your teachers have ‘office hours’ that parents can use to contact with good news, questions or concerns. Let’s keep our class time just for students and their instruction.

Again, thank you PARENTS and STUDENTS for all you are doing to ensure we have a GREAT school year!

Have a wonderful weekend!
