Family Life Education (FLE)

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) provides a comprehensive, sequential Family Life Education (FLE) program for students. Instruction is seen as a partnership among parents and guardians, the school, and the community in supporting the learning essential to the development of strong families, positive relationships, and a healthy community.

Parents/guardians may choose to opt their child out of all or part of the Family Life Education program. Students who are opted out are provided with age-appropriate, nonpunitive alternative health instruction, and every effort is made to foster respect for family choices.  Click on the link below to review detailed grade-level program descriptions/materials or for the opt out form.

If you wish to opt your child out of all or part of FLE for this school year, please print the opt-out form and place it in the box located in front of the school (big brown box that says, “Place forms here”.  Please note, you only need to do this if there are lessons that you do not want your child to participate in.  If you want your child to participate in these lessons no further action is required.

books buses

Books on Buses!

We are starting a delivery service, using FCPS school buses, to bring Little Run’s library books to you! The first date will be Tuesday, September 29th!

You can go online now, to our library catalog, and request a book! We will try our very best to get you the one you requested but due to high demand for certain books, and the need to quarantine returned books for 7 days, Mrs. Beaumont may have to choose a different book for you to put on the bus instead. Either way, we are sure you will enjoy reading about new adventures!

How to Place Library Book Holds for Bus Delivery or Walker Pick-Up

How will books be delivered to you?

If you are a bus rider:

Bus drivers will deliver books to your bus stop on Tuesday afternoons, starting on September 29th. Please be at the stop to meet the driver at your assigned time (coming soon!). The bus will return every Monday afternoon, beginning Monday, October 5th to pick up you r library books.

We are working with Transportation to develop a bus stop schedule. We will share the schedule soon.

If you are a walker: You will come to Little Run to pick up and return your books at door 2. Pick up time will be Tuesdays from 3:30-4:30pm and returns will be Mondays from 1-2pm.

In order to follow all safety protocols, masks and social distancing will be required.

Please note, we are unable to accommodate any pick-ups or returns outside of these scheduled times.

band

Band & Strings

Ms. Cockey and Ms. Hornsby-Graham are excited to welcome you to the band and strings program at Little Run! If your child is in 4th, 5th or 6th grade, they have the opportunity to play an instrument this year. Here is a slide show with Instrument Demonstrations for your child to select the instrument that is their favorite. Children who play the instrument they enjoy hearing, tend to enjoy playing their instrument most. Playing an instrument brings children an opportunity to engage in creativity and is a great opportunity to connect with others.

Please note:

  • All 4th grade students may play a string instrument or participate in general music.
  • All 5th grade students may play a band instrument, or a string instrument, or participate in general music.
  • All 6th grade students may play a band or string instrument, AND participate in general music.

To learn find the instrument that is right for your child, please have your child explore all the instruments in the Instrument Demonstrations. To sign up, complete this Band and strings enrollment form.

We look forward to making music with your children this year!
