SLES PTA Equity Team Seeks Diverse Leadership

The PTA is trying to start an Equity Team and seeking a co-chair. This Equity Team will work to ensure that our community is truly equitable for all our students and families. It is important our PTA leadership reflects the diversity of our families at Stratford Landing.

It is very important to have the voices of our entire community working with our equity team. The PTA believes that voices and leadership from our Black/African American, Hispanic and Asian families will make this team purposeful and meaningful.

Please email Sheena Arting at community@slpta.org by 10/5/2020 if interested in co-chairing this team.

A Message about Rock n Run and Fundraising

As we begin this very different school year, we recognize that there is a great deal of change. However, the SLES PTA is working to preserve some of our cherished school traditions that are meaningful to our school community while promoting school spirit & unity – such as Bingo Night, Ice Cream Socials, Rock n Run – and some new things we’re cooking up!

We believe that ensuring the sustainability of our fundraising efforts is very important in continuing to support our school community – both during this distance-learning time and when we eventually return to school in person.

This year, the PTA’s fundraising mission is guided by a theme of ‘helping our community feel supported at home.’ We are committed to supporting students, families, teachers and staff with resources that will assist students' being able to fully participate in the school experience and that help build a supportive, connected community. We may be virtual, but we are all “One Stratford.”

To that end – fundraising will look different – including virtual events and/or activities/resources/experiences that you can do from home.

The first fundraising tradition we are working on is Rock n Run (or a virtual event that fosters fun & grade-by-grade collaboration). This will be our 8th annual Rock n Run event!!

For our new dolphins and their families: Here is what Rock n Run has historically looked like - It’s been an annual two-week event during which time each grade participates in a healthy fundraising competition. You can read more about it on the PTA website: https://slpta.org/rnr/

Stephanie Fultz has returned to chair this year’s event – thank you Stephanie!! For those of you who don’t know her, Stephanie has been a “rock” star (pun intended) in spearheading the last several Rock n Runs, with a committee and team of volunteers who make this event fun for all.

And just like previous Rock n Runs – BUT WE NEED YOU TO MAKE IT HAPPEN!! Volunteers are key to making the magic happen. The committee is looking for volunteers to help in these roles:

- Communications

- T-Shirts

- Pep Rally

- Prize Day

Multiple volunteers are needed for each role. Please email Chrissy Kopple directly if you are interested in serving on the committee and/or have questions about Rock n Run: fundraising@slpta.org.  NOTE: The date of Rock n Run is currently TBD, but likely later this fall.

Thank you in advance for your continued support of the PTA and our SLES community!
