WELCOME BACK FROM THE PTSO!
Dear W.T. Woodson Families,
Your W.T. Woodson Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) welcomes students and faculty back to school for the 2020-2021 academic year. Our year begins in challenging conditions that will require new habits, approaches, and greater care for our students. While many of the PTSO’s traditional activities like Cav Kickoff are not possible, there is much we can do in a pandemic environment to support students and staff. Your PTSO was able to send a survey to our teachers to understand how we may enhance their home teaching environment (we will discuss at this evening's meeting); we will also continue to support families in need; and teacher hospitality programs will move from events to new formats so all staff can feel appreciated.
We cannot do this without you. The PTSOs main funding source is memberships. Our mission is to advocate for staff and student needs to maintain W.T. Woodson’s sterling academic credentials. Woodson High School consistently ranks in the top 1.5% of high schools nationwide (https://www.usnews.com/education/best-high-schools/virginia/districts/fairfax-county-public-schools/w-t-woodson-high-school-20458) because of involved parents like you, superlative staff, and involved leadership. In addition to membership, it is people that drive the PTSO. We have a few vacant positions looking for volunteers; including a Communications Director board position. A Student Driver Magnet for your car! Magnets are $8.00 each or buy a batch of 3 for all your cars for $20.00. You can order online from the PTBoard website HERE.
