Parents and students,
My name is Adam Pawlowski, and I am the After-School Specialist at Rachel Carson Middle School. The purpose of this letter is to introduce you and your child to the After-School Program at Carson. Our goal is to provide quality programming in the areas of academic support and enrichment, social skills and youth development, physical health and wellness, and family and community involvement.
The After-School Program will be different this year as all clubs and activities will be virtual. We will offer a variety of virtual clubs and activities including Debate, Arduino’s, Theatre Sports/Improvisation, Fitness, Science Olympiad (MYSO), TSA, Model UN, and many more. Our engaging and exciting programs will be both synchronous and asynchronous using a combination of Blackboard Collaborate and Google Classroom/Google Meet.
Asynchronous activities will be available to all students via the Rachel Carson After School Google Classroom. The classroom code for students to join is o7kpmg7 . Synchronous activities will begin the week of September 21st. Club sign up forms for individual clubs will be sent out next Tuesday to all students’ FCPS email accounts for students to sign up for the first week of activities. After the first week of activities, sign up forms will be sent out every Friday afternoon for students to sign up for clubs the following week. The final schedule of activities will be sent out on Friday September 18th via News You Choose and sent to students FCPS emails. Activity times may be subject to change based on club sponsors availability. Changes will be communicated through students’ FCPS emails.
The RCMS after school program is a fluid, ever changing, program that allows for new student driven activities. Check the activity calendar often for new and exciting opportunities.

- Model UN- Online Tryouts will be Thursday, October 5. More information will be coming soon on the RCMS website.
- Technology Student Association (TSA)- TSA Inventions & Innovations tryout submittals will be due on Wednesday, September 30 by 8:00 pm. Please see the TSA page in After School Activities on the RCMS website for tryout information.
