Dear Parents,

Thank you for an absolutely wonderful first week back!  We have simply loved seeing the students again and are excited to celebrate all of the learning that is happening. You have shown patience with the adjustment to online instruction and have shared joy with your children as they start a new year. Your support is appreciated as we celebrate student engagement and participation. Each day, we have noticed increased comfort from students with the virtual learning format.

Thank you for sharing your child's successes with the teachers and for sending notes of gratitude to the teachers for their work and efforts. Thank you for your patience when the technology did not work as expected and for communicating with the teachers when you have questions.

We appreciate your support as we navigate online learning and new tools for students. We have had a few incidents where parents tried to engage the teacher during instruction by asking questions. In addition, some parents have utilized the chat feature in the virtual classroom to communicate with other parents. Both the chat and the microphone functions are exclusively for the use of students to engage in the lesson. These types of incidents interrupt the teacher and affect the flow of instruction for students. While there may be times when you may need to support your child with the technology, please do so without disrupting the classroom.

Although this is not our preferred way to teach and learn, we will continue to rely on each other and make our best efforts to improve each day.  We are all in this together and are appreciative of that partnership.

Safety Patrols

Welcome back to our new school year Haycock Cougars!  Mrs.Callsen and Mrs. Hecht wanted to reach out to the 5th and 6th graders. We understand that there are many 5th and 6th graders who want to apply to be a Safety Patrol and there are many 6th graders who want to know what their role will be this year.  We are currently in a waiting period to hear from the county what the role of Safety Patrols will be this year. Please be patient with us and when we know more information we will be sure to share it with you.

We miss you all!

Mrs. Callsen and Mrs. Hecht
