Majors Achieve and Thrive Together with Purpose and Pride!

Thank you MVHS Community

Good Afternoon Majors,

We are so pleased to report that the school year is off to a great start!  It was so great to see so many students highly engaged in their classes this week building relationships with their peers and teachers.  As you know, our faculty has worked so hard to prepare for them and it was great to see all their hard work pay off.

We thank our entire MVHS community for all your kind words, encouragement, and support and for making sure students made it to class on time each day.

We want to remind you that on Monday, September 14, all students will work asynchronously and will complete this attendance form by 3:00 PM Monday afternoon.  Completion of this form serves as attendance for Mondays.  If it is not completed, students are considered absent.

We hope you all enjoy your weekend and look forward to seeing you back in our virtual halls Tuesday morning.

Home Internet Access Assistance

FCPS is working to ensure that all FCPS students have internet access at home.  We are transitioning to a new program in partnership with Cox Communications, in which FCPS will pay for Internet service for qualifying families.  Cox’s Connect2Compete program provides low-cost internet to families that meet these qualifications:

  • have at least one child that attends an FCPS school;
  • participate in, or qualify for, one of these government subsidy programs: The National School Lunch Program, SNAP, TANF or Public Housing.
  • have not had Cox standard internet services in the home within the last 90 days.

If your family is in need of Internet service at home so that your student can participate in virtual learning, please contact us to begin the application process.  If you qualify for the program, we will contact you to let you know how to complete the steps to receive your Internet service.  In partnership with Cox, FCPS will provide your Internet service for the school year.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Iris Bradshaw, Parent Liaison and Interpreter via email at Imbradshaw@fcps.edu

Technology Support for Students and Parents

To support families who are working with their children during distance learning, FCPS has launched a new Parent Technology Help Desk, effective Monday, August 24. The help desk can be reached at 833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS) and will be answered by staff members between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., seven days a week.

Parents or guardians can call this number for basic tech support with parent accounts, help with FCPS student devices and technical assistance with other FCPS applications. If help desk staff members are unable to solve the issue, they will enter a support ticket on behalf of the parent/guardian to escalate the issue to the appropriate FCPS team. Parents who need help in a language other than English can inform the help desk staff when they call of their preferred language, and an interpreter will join in on the call.

FCPS has also set up a Parent and Student Technology Support portal at https://itweb.fcps.edu/itsupport/ to allow older students and parents/guardians to request technology help directly. When a support request ticket is entered through the portal, it is auto-routed to the TSSpec at the appropriate site to expedite service.
