***Please try to log on a few minutes prior to the start time.
Attendance
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) requires all schools to take attendance during virtual learning this school year. FCPS must take attendance Mondays through Fridays. Students aged 5-18 must attend school every day school is in session, unless they are excused from school. To support this, parents must report absences each time the student may be absent.
Please notify the school by calling the attendance line or sending an email to our attendance mailbox if your child is unable to participate. Report any hardship such as student illness, difficulty logging in or accessing classes.
If there is no parent contact and the student fails to log in, the student is marked unverified and our office staff will be contacting the family for the reason for the absence.

Student Laptops
The final date for laptop distribution is September 15, 1:00-3:00 p.m. If you have not picked up your student laptop and are unable to come that day, please contact the school.
If you are having trouble with your school laptop, check with your teacher first to see if they can help. If they are unable to help you resolve the problem, please submit a ticket at this link:

Parental Consent for Select Digital Resources
At Deer Park, our teachers will use a variety of digital resources to support student learning and promote communication and collaboration with students and families. Some of the digital resources your child may use this year will require your consent before they can be used. You can find our school’s list of the resources that require parental consent here: https://deerparkes.fcps.edu/adopteddigitalresources
Included on this page is also a link to a form https://isweb.fcps.edu/iscontacts/techpermform.cfm?secure where the enrolling parent or guardian will need to indicate whether or not their student is allowed to use the list of digital resources this year. This page also provides more information about how FCPS carefully reviews digital resources for approval and why we must request your consent before using certain tools. We encourage you to complete the parental consent for digital resources form as soon as possible, as your child will not be able to use the digital resources until we have received your permission. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have questions or concerns about the digital resources we’ve chosen to use this year.
Upcoming Jewish Holidays: September 2020
This month, Jewish people throughout the world will be observing what is known as the High Holy Days or High Holidays. Most Jewish families will celebrate these holidays, which are often thought of as the holiest days of the year.
Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, begins Friday evening, September 18. Some Jews celebrate for one day and some celebrate two days. Most Jews celebrate with large family meals and services. Even though most synagogues are closed for the pandemic, services are being held virtually by many Jewish congregations. Feel free to greet your Jewish friends and colleagues with “Happy New Year,” or try Hebrew with “Shana Tova.”
Yom Kippur, a more somber holiday, begins on Sunday night, September 27, through Monday night September 28. It includes fasting and prayer. Many people will refrain from eating for the full 25 hours of the holiday. Feel free to greet your Jewish friends and colleagues with, “Have a meaningful and easy fast.”

Health Documentation Requirements due October 8, 2020
As SY 2020-2021 will begin virtually for all students, FCPS will allow additional time for families to obtain the necessary documentation for the required immunizations, tuberculosis screenings, physicals and Tdap. These requirements are outlined in Section 22.1-271.2 and Section 32.1-46 of the Code of Virginia.
For newly enrolling students not meeting the Code of Virginia requirements, FCPS will provide provisional access to virtual learning only. Students will not be permitted to access “in school” instruction without meeting all compliance requirements and providing their school with documentation of immunizations, tuberculosis screenings and physicals and Tdap. All requirements must be met by October 8, 2020.
For students who are conditionally enrolled and have not completed the necessary immunizations as required by the Code of Virginia, FCPS will provide provisional access to virtual learning only. Schools will continue to notify families of remaining immunization requirements. Students will not be permitted to return to “in school” instruction until meeting all immunization requirements.
