Dear Fairview Families,
What an exciting week at Fairview! We have thoroughly enjoyed connecting with students in their classrooms over the past two days. The students are demonstrating their 21st century learner skills. They are collaborating, communicating, thinking critically, and demonstrating resiliency. We are so proud of them.
Thank you for collaborating with us to ensure a smooth start to the year. You have done a phenomenal job of creating learning spaces, developing routines and schedules, and communicating with our staff. We are grateful for your partnership.
Our community's compassion and support is sincerely appreciated by our dedicated staff members. Together, we will continue to help our falcons soar to new heights.
Sincerely,
Sara Van Aalst, Principal
Meghan Ehrman, Assistant Principal
Positivity Project
This year, we are excited to continue implementing and expanding our schoolwide use of the Positivity Project (P2) at Fairview Elementary!
P2 is dedicated to empowering America’s youth to build positive relationships. This is done by helping students to recognize the character strengths in themselves and others. Positive psychology’s scientifically validated 24 character strengths serve as its foundation.
How will P2 be implemented at Fairview Elementary?
- Each week, we will be sharing new and exciting information about this wonderful program here in News You Choose.
- Teachers will use P2 in morning meetings and with classroom instruction
- School Counselors will be using this framework to guide classroom lessons
- School-wide events will focus on the character strength of the week
More information about P2 can be found by visiting the P2 website and visiting the drop down menu choices in the about section.

Technology for Fairview Students
Parental Consent for Digital Resources
At Fairview Elementary, our teachers will use a variety of digital resources to support student learning and promote communication and collaboration with students and families. Some of the digital resources your child may use this year will require your consent before they can be used. You can find our school’s list of the resources that require parental consent here: https://fairviewes.fcps.edu/adopteddigitalresources
Included on this page is also a link to a form where the enrolling parent or guardian will need to indicate whether or not their student is allowed to use the list of digital resources this year. We encourage you to complete the parental consent for digital resources form as soon as possible, as your child will not be able to use the digital resources until we have received your permission. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have questions or concerns about the digital resources we’ve chosen to use this year.
Technology Support Resources
The document attached below provides video support for a variety of technology tasks and/or programs. The topics are translated while the actual video is provided in English with visual supports.
