Welcome students and families to the 2020 - 2021 school year! We had an exciting day, and we happy to see so many smiling faces!! We look forward to seeing you (virtually) tomorrow night for Back to School night.
“Hoot Bag” Or Laptop:
Our school has put together “Hoot Bags,” which are additional instructional school supplies for students to use this school year. We encourage you to look over the bags as a family, and then please keep these materials in the bag until your child’s teachers give directions to use. Our staff has been hard at work, compiling some supplies that students will need in addition to the supplies you may have at home. Items include math manipulatives, reading charts, and art supplies. A sheet of paper in the bag will let you know which grade level the materials are for because all the bags look the same on the outside.
You do not need to sign-up to retrieve your Hoot Bags. You can come Monday - Friday from 9:00 am -4:00 pm. When you ring the bell, let them know the grades you need, and they will bring the bag(s) to you.
Laptop
If you need a laptop, please contact your child's teacher and Adam Rice abrice@fcps.edu to schedule an appointment for pick up.
Back-to-School Night
We will hold our back-to-school-night (BTSN) on September 9, 2020, from 5:30-7:15 p.m. (5:30-6:15 & 6:30-7:15). We will hold two repeated sessions throughout the evening, which is similar to last year’s in-person BTSN. You can attend either session that is offered. Both sessions will be the same information in both. We will also record the session in case you are not able to attend. If you need a recording, please request it from your classroom teacher. You will need to use your child’s teacher’s Google Classroom Meet link to enter the virtual room and log-in using your child’s account.
Parents, We Need Your Consent for Select Digital Resources
At Orange Hunt Elementary School, our teachers will use a variety of digital resources to support student learning and promote communication and collaboration with students and families. Some of the digital resources your child may use this year will require your consent before they can be used. You can find our school’s list of the resources that require parental consent here: https://orangehuntes.fcps.edu/adopteddigitalresources
Included on this page is also a link to a form where the enrolling parent or guardian will need to indicate whether or not their student is allowed to use the list of digital resources this year. This page also provides more information about how FCPS carefully reviews digital resources for approval and why we must request your consent before using certain tools. We encourage you to complete the parental consent for digital resources form as soon as possible, as your child will not be able to use the digital resources until we have received your permission. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have questions or concerns about the digital resources we’ve chosen to use this year.
Please Complete your Health Information Form and Emergency Care Card
The Health Information Form (HIF) (SS/SE -71) and the Emergency Care Information form (SS/SE-3) provide valuable information regarding student health conditions. They help to identify students who may need healthcare support in the educational environment.
Click on this link for step-by-step instructions on how to update your forms. You can update all of your children at the same time. Update your forms
Remember, you must be registered for your own SIS Parent View account to access weCare, which is the emergency and health information card. Do you need to register for a SIS Parent View account, or do you have a question about it? Click here: SIS Parent Account
If you need help gaining access to your SIS account, please email Ann Prentice for help aiprentice@fcps.edu.

FCPS Technology Resources and Supports
Parent Technology Help Desk To support families who are working with their children during distance learning, Fairfax County Public Schools launched a new Parent Technology Help Desk. The number is 1-833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS). It will be answered by staff 7:00 a.m.to 11:00 p.m., seven days a week. If the help desk is unable to solve the issue on the phone with the parent or guardian, they will enter a ticket on the parent’s behalf and the request for help will be transferred to the appropriate FCPS team.
Parents or guardians who need help in a language other than English should let help desk staff know, and an interpreter will join them on the line. (FCPS also has existing parent information phone lines, available in eight different languages, that can assist with general questions about FCPS.)
FCPS has also set up an online portal to allow older students and parents and guardians to request technology help directly.
These webpages are continuing to be updated as the situation for the 2020-21 school year evolves. The FAQ page includes a date by each question to identify the latest updates.
