Jumping for Joy to Start School

jumping for joy

We continue to be grateful to the PTA for all that they do for our students and families.  Kindergarteners loved the chalking the driveway event. We are jumping for joy to meet all of our new students!

School Supplies, Spirit Wear and Band/Strings/Square 1 Art  Pickup

Pickup will be at Churchill Road on Wednesday, September 2, from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon and Thursday, September 3, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. for PTA pre-ordered school supplies and spirit wear orders. (You can still order in-stock spirit wear for pickup until August 31.) Please have a sign with your child's name and grade for faster pickup. If neither of these times works for you, please coordinate delivery by contacting schoolsupplies@churchillroadpta.org for supplies orders or spiritwear@churchillroadpta.org for spirit orders.

CRS staff will also be distributing band/strings materials and Square 1 art orders from last year. In addition, families are encouraged to browse lost and found.

Attendance

Attendance is required for all students Monday – Friday.  Every homeroom classroom will have a live morning meeting each day where attendance will be taken for the day at 8:35 a.m.  Morning Meeting is an engaging way to start each day, build a strong sense of community, and set children up for success socially and academically.  Please be sure your child is present for attendance.

Tech Support for Parents and Students

To support families who are working with their children during distance learning, FCPS has launched a new Parent Technology Help Desk, effective Monday, August 24. The help desk can be reached at 833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS) and will be answered by staff members between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., seven days a week. Parents or guardians can call this number for basic tech support with parent accounts, help with FCPS student devices and technical assistance with other FCPS applications.

FCPS has also set up a Parent and Student Technology Support portal at https://itweb.fcps.edu/itsupport/ to allow older students and parents/guardians to request technology help directly.

Student Passwords

FCPS has shared that the students password from the 2019-2020 school year will be extended through the 2020-2021 school year. If your child does not remember his/her password, or needs it changed please first use the Student Password Reset Tool by clicking here. Remember, students usernames are the same as their student ID number. Except for Google apps, their username is their student id number@fcpsschools.net (1234567@fcpsschools.net)

All students should have and know their passwords by Tuesday, September 1 for our Virtual Orientation and to be ready for the first day of school on September 8, 2020.   Our School-Based Technology Specialist (SBTS), Nick Kilpatrick is also available throughout the school year to assist you with technical questions at nfkilpatrick@fcps.edu.

Churchill Road Special Education lead teacher Mikaela Antonio joined Superintendent Scott S. Brabrand this past week at a televised town hall highlighting special education.  Ms. Antonio answered parent questions and explained how teachers support students with disabilities, and discussed how to maximize student engagement in the virtual environment, and still provide specialized instruction. We are proud of Ms. Antonio for being chosen as an FCPS spokesperson!
