Dear Rocky Run Families and Students,
The Ramtastic Rocky Run MS staff is back in action and we are so excited for the 20-21 school year. We believe that Together WE can do VIRTUALLY anything!
It was a pleasure to meet with so many of our families at our Principal's coffee earlier this week. If you missed it you can review the recording. I started the recording a bit late on this one - my apologies!

Laptop Distribution:
Laptop distribution has been very successful and we have one more date on Tuesday, September 1 from 12-4. It has been wonderful to greet our students and help them to get set up for a strong, virtual start to the school year. If you need a different time, please complete this form* to request a new time.
Orientation Activties:
Please be on the look out for communications regarding Family and Student Orientation activities that are scheduled from August 31-September 2. The first notice was sent on Thursday, August 27. Messages are also being sent to student fcpsschools.net accounts and are posted in the Ramsville Google classrooms for 7th and 8th graders. Our goal is to connect with every family next week!
Tips for Online Learning Success:
A webpage has been published to support students with distance learning. The Tips for Online Learning Success page has suggestions for students; technology tips for families; troubleshooting guides; and links to the parent and student tech support sites.
We are very, very excited to welcome our ramtastic students and families to school September 8. I welcome your feedback, suggestions and questions. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me.

SIS ParentVUE Account
The SIS ParentVUE Account (Student Information System ParentVUE Account) is the FCPS secure solution for accessing information about your child's attendance, class performance, demographic data, and links to FCPS 24-7 information.
Your child's schedule will be available in SIS ParentVUE and StudentVUE on September 2nd, 6 AM.
Parents who do not have activation key generated previously will receive a mail from the central office with their new activation code. If you forgot your password, please visit "Forgot Password" to reset your password.

Beginning of School Year Forms
As we prepare to (virtually) open schools this fall, we ask that all parents and/or guardians update the annual mandatory school forms. Updates to the following forms are all necessary for your students to begin school every year. This information can also be found on our website.

A Message from our Music Department:
Hello Rocky Run Music Parents and Students,
The Rocky Run music department would like to take a moment to let you know how excited we are to welcome you into our virtual classrooms. Band, Orchestra, and Chorus will be happening this year! The music department faculty is working very hard to create fun and engaging musical experiences for each and every music student. Like every year, we will be playing, singing, and learning more about music and music making. Here are a few quick things to know:
- Things will look different, but as always we will be working to give you meaningful performance experiences.
- Practice is important, but it will be flexible this year to accommodate all home situations.
- We are doing our best to make sure all costs are kept low. We are willing to help any family in any way we can. More to come.
- At this point, the plan is to get school instruments, music and method books, and welcome goodie bags to you around the 2nd week of school. Please stay tuned for more information and a schedule.
We look forward to making music with you this school year.

Tech Support for Parents and Students
To support families who are working with their children during distance learning, FCPS has launched a new Parent Technology Help Desk, effective Monday, August 24. The help desk can be reached at 833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS) and will be answered by staff members between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., seven days a week.
Parents or guardians can call this number for basic tech support with parent accounts, help with FCPS student devices and technical assistance with other FCPS applications. If help desk staff members are unable to solve the issue, they will enter a support ticket on behalf of the parent/guardian to escalate the issue to the appropriate FCPS team. Parents who need help in a language other than English can inform the help desk staff when they call of their preferred language, and an interpreter will join in on the call.
FCPS has also set up Parent and Student Technology Support portal at https://itweb.fcps.edu/itsupport/ to allow older students and parents/guardians to request technology help directly. When a support request ticket is entered through the portal, it is auto-routed to the TSSpec at the appropriate site to expedite service.

- Furniture installation in Phase 3 starts next week!
