Emergency Care Information

Fairfax County Public Schools is committed to ensuring that the climate in all FCPS facilities is safe and secure. In support of this goal, FCPS provides weCare @ school (weCare), an emergency care information system, available to FCPS parents and guardians who have registered for their own Parent account. weCare helps manage emergency medical information by enabling parents to enter and update their children’s medical data at their convenience online. Contact information provided automatically enrolls parents to receive e-Notify communications from the district and their child’s school. e-Notify is the communications tool for FCPS emergency, attendance, and essential outreach messages. Messages are sent via e-mail, telephone, and SMS.

Please go to this site for instructions on updating your child's information for the Emergency Care Form.

Please note that weCare is a part of FCPS 24-7 Learning : Parent View.  In order to log into Parent View it is necessary to have an active SIS Parent Account.  Once the SIS Parent Account is created the same log in credentials will also work for FCPS 24-7 Learning : Parent View.

New Visitor Guidelines

Per the School Board and Superintendent, our implemented safety protocols will continue to require that we limit the number of individuals who move in and out of our facilities. To promote social distancing during the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, we will be adhering to the following guidelines:

  • Facility visitors will be limited and should occur by scheduled appointment only.
  • No walk-in visitors are permitted.
  • As much as possible, appointments to meet with parents and customers should be accommodated via telephone, video conference, or other suitable technology.
  • When a face-to-face appointment must occur, the following guidelines shall be maintained:

Appointments

  • Visitors must have an appointment and, prior to the appointment, must:
    • complete the Covid-19 Health Questionnaire listed on the Announcement page of our web site (must be completed by every person coming in);
    • call the Main Office upon arrival at LBSS.

Online Learning Success Page

A webpage has been published to support students with distance learning. The Tips for Online Learning Success page has suggestions for students; technology tips for families; troubleshooting guides; and links to the parent and student tech support sites. Please consider linking it in your Google Classroom or Blackboard courses to help your students navigate our digital world. As a bonus, it’s also a great resource for staff members!

SIS ParentVUE Activation Codes

SIS ParentVUE activation codes were mailed this week via USPS to new families enrolled prior to August 22nd and those families who have not yet set up an account. You can use these codes to set up your account on the SIS ParentVUE help page. Families enrolled after August 22nd will be sent codes in mid-September. Do you have an account, but can’t remember your password? Reset it by going to the SISParentVUE login page.

The Lake Braddock Shared Vision

Our new Shared Vision will be our guiding principle as we work to change the educational experience for all our Bruins. To support that work four visioning committees (Caring Community, Professional Learning, Instructional Excellence, and Branding) and three cohorts (Lead Innovators, Collaborative Team (CT) Leaders, and Great Beginning Mentors) were formed for the 2020-2021 school year.

Caring Community - The Caring Community Committee designs and implements structures so that all members of the school community feel valued and supported in their social and emotional needs. We also support the cultivation of our Bruins’ sense of self and community by encouraging responsibility, service, empathy, equity, and inclusion.

Professional Learning - The Professional Learning Committee determines the best structures and strategies for staff to engage with as we move closer to our shared vision. The Professional Learning Committee will consult with the Instructional Excellence Committee to determine the content of staff training and development offerings.

Instructional Excellence - The Professional Learning Committee determines the best structures and strategies for staff to engage with as we move closer to our shared vision. The Professional Learning Committee will consult with the Instructional Excellence Committee to determine the content of staff training and development offerings.

Branding - The Branding Ambassadors design, promote, and communicate the Shared Vision and the work of our fellow SV Committees with all of our stakeholders in mind. We are part marketing and advertising, part media and public relations, and part promotion and production.

Lead Innovators - A group of instructional staff will serve as Lead Innovators.  These leaders are on the forefront of implementing innovative approaches and will serve as ambassadors of our shared vision.  Lead Innovators will open their classrooms and share their work as they reimagine the educational experience.

Collaborative Tea (CT) Leaders - Collaborative Team (CT) Leaders will guide the work of our vision within our content teams. Their work will focus on teams planning their pacing and unpacking standards, creating common assessments, identifying effective classroom strategies, analyzing student data, and determining and implementing enrichment and interventions.

Great Beginnings Mentor - Great Beginnings is a comprehensive new teacher induction program with a unified mission of supporting new teachers that has quality mentoring practices, professional teaching standards, classroom-based teacher learning, commitment and support. The goal of this program is to help teachers new to the profession, as well as teachers new to the building, form relationships with colleague mentors who can model, guide and advise their mentee.

SAT School Day Test for 12th Graders

On Wednesday, September 23, 2020, Lake Braddock Secondary School 12th graders will have the opportunity to take the SAT School Day test. FCPS will cover the cost for any 12th-grade student to take the SAT. The optional essay component and subject tests will not be offered on this date.

General information about the SAT test format is available on the College Board webpage. September 23 has been designated for asynchronous learning, so students who choose to take the SAT will not miss synchronous learning time with their teachers.

We will share more details about test day schedules, bus transportation, and specific safety protocols in the coming weeks. Final confirmation of SAT School Day testing will be based on health department guidance in September.

If you have questions about the SAT School Day administration on Wednesday, September 23, please contact Lake Braddock Secondary School Assessment Coach, Jennifer Bury, at JABury@fcps.edu .
