Schoology
London Towne is one of the pilot schools for Schoology, a learning space that enhances face-to-face and distance learning through communication, collaboration, and personalized learning. Our teachers will use Schoology to provide a safe forum for students to discuss their ideas and collaborate on projects and to assign and collect classwork.
Additional Schoology resources can be found on our website as well as on the FCPS website. FCPS additional resources are:
Schoology parent accounts will be available on September 2, 2020. London Towne teachers are adding content to student Schoology accounts and will communicate with families when accounts are available for students to access.
Open House
On September 2nd, our teachers will be hosting Welcome Chats in the Collaborate Ultra link found in your child’s Schoology Course.
These are at 10:00-10:30 a.m. or 1:00-1:30 p.m. or 3:30-4:00 p.m. Please pick the time that works best for your family to chat with your teacher and other students in your class.
Laptop Distribution and Materials Pick Up Information
We have a laptop for each LTES student. Having an FCPS laptop ensures that the device is configured for the digital tools our students will be using. Additionally, parents can access the FCPS Parent Help line if there are issues with using technology if they are using an FCPS device. The Technology Support for Families on the FCPS webpage provides both a phone number and an online form for help: https://www.fcps.edu/return-school/technology-support-families
Kindergarten and Pre-K students may pick up their laptops on Monday, August 31st between 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. If your child needs a laptop and you still need to pick one up, please call the main office at 703-227-5400 to schedule an appointment to pick up a laptop.
LTES Learning Schedule
The first day of school is September 8, 2020. All students will begin virtually. Our bell schedule is 8:20 a.m. - 3:05 p.m. We will start the day with a morning meeting in each class.
Our daily schedules will closely mirror a typical school day in the building with direct instruction beginning at 8:20 a.m. Our Tuesday - Friday schedule will include morning meeting, language arts, math, science, social studies, and specials (pe, STEAM, library, art, and music). Screen and movement breaks are available throughout the day. On Mondays, all students will participate in morning meeting, asynchronous/independent work, and optional enrichment clubs. Some students as directed by their teacher will participate in additional small group instruction. Classroom teachers will provide specifics regarding daily specials and Monday small groups. Pre-K students will get a schedule from their teachers.

Attendance Information
We are excited to see our Lions and look forward to seeing them every day they are healthy. Attendance is required and we know that with a virtual start to school that may pose some challenges for families. FCPS has developed the following attendance guidelines for parents.
In Virginia, public school students aged 5-18 are required to attend school regularly whether they are participating in a virtual or in-person setting. Teachers will take attendance during learning sessions and ensure that all students are counted. To support their efforts, parents can:
- Ensure that students log in to classes on time, and throughout the day.
- Call or email the school attendance line if their student(s) are unable to participate.
- Communicate any concerns to the school, such as difficulty logging in or having access to FCPS classes.
- Report any hardship, such as student illness or any issue that might prevent the student from participating regularly.
- Return phone calls or emails when notified that their student(s) did not participate that day.
- Ensure the school has up-to-date parent communication information. If your child is unable to login to live, face-to-face online instruction with their teacher, the teacher will be recording whole class instruction and posting the video so it can be viewed at a different time. The video can also be used to provide review for all students.
More information about attendance is available online.
Back to School Night: Save the Date
London Towne's Back to School Night (BTSN) will be held September 29, 2020 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. Teachers will provide families with BTSN information and be available to answer any questions families may have about the curriculum or school year.
