School Year Kickoff
Today we welcomed back our entire faculty and staff virtually to kickoff our new school year. We are confident that together we can work collaboratively to make this a great school year for all of our students. As a part of that meeting we unveiled our new logo that reiterates the importance of relationships being at the center of all we do. This logo applies to all in the Oakton community and serves as our commitment to have all (students, staff and families) feel heard, seen, valued and believed in. Next week, I will share with you more details about our focus for the school year in my welcome back message for students and families. #WEAREOAKTON

The new school year is rapidly approaching! To help streamline information all of the information and resources we are preparing can be found on the Oakton Student Portal (linked below). Textbooks and School Supplies
This week we will be collecting any remaining textbooks and school issued items that students still have in their possession from last school year. It is incredibly important that we get all of these items back so we can appropriately plan our distribution of school items for this school year. Students/Families can drive up to door 1 and drop the items to school staff without exiting their vehicles. Items can be dropped of at the following dates/times:
- Tuesday August 18
- 9:30am-12:30pm; 1:30pm-2:30pm
- Wednesday August 19
- 9:30am-12:30pm; 1:30pm-2:30pm
- Thursday August 20
- 1:30pm-3:30pm
- 5:30pm-7:00pm
Locker Room Item Pick-up
Due to the restrictions around student access to the building we were unable to clear out our Health and PE locker rooms until now. We are currently offering two days, August 21 and 24, where students can come to the school to retrieve their items. If you have a rising 10th or 11th grader please see more details here.
Virtual Orientation for All Students
On Thursday, September 3, we will be offering a morning orientation for all Oakton students. This will help students ensure that they have their class links and the resources they need for the first day of school. Students will have the opportunity to log into each of their classes with their unique Blackboard Collaborate Ultra link. Links will be emailed out to students no earlier than August 31.
 Equity at the Center
Oakton High School is committed to keeping equity at the center of all of our work. In my welcome back letter next week, I will outline our commitments to action. Further, this fall we will invite Oakton parents to join us in this conversation. With our school year rapidly approaching, I would like to resend these previously shared resources.
