Annandale Community:
I am excited to come together with the staff tomorrow morning for our General Session: Welcome and Wellness. Later that day, collaborative teams and/or departments will meet to build community, reflect on the past five months and examine our “why” working at Annandale.
Collectively, the Annandale staff has earned almost 100 certifications this summer on various technology tools that will be incorporated into the classroom this school year. That is an incredible amount of engagement over a summer break and I want to recognize and congratulate our staff’s initiative to improve their technology skills. As educators, we cannot ask our students what we are unwilling to do ourselves. It is very powerful when we model the willingness to try new things — with the struggles and failures that come along with this.
It will be essential for all students to have technology and internet to access instruction this year. Laptop distribution for 9th graders and students new to Annandale will take place from August 24 through August 28. Distribution will take place at Door 10 (outside of gym lobby) from 9:00-11:30am and 12:30-3:00pm. Note: Students must have returned laptops to other FCPS schools in order to receive one from AHS.
While appointments are not required, they are strongly encouraged and will be given priority when they arrive. To schedule an appointment click here. Masks/face coverings are required to be worn while on school grounds. Below is the laptop distribution schedule:
- Monday, August 24 - Last names A - G
- Tuesday, August 25 - Last names H - O
- Thursday, August 26 - Last names P - Z
- Friday, August 26 - Walk-ups
For those needing internet access, Cox has announced new customers that qualify will receive Connect2Compete, the company's low-cost internet, for two months at no cost. New customers must sign up by September 30 for free service, which also includes free technical support.

Return to School Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for Families - The changing course of the COVID-19 pandemic with infection rates surging both nationally and regionally has required FCPS to alter our plans for school year 2020-21. We will begin the school year with virtual learning for all students on September 8.

School Facility Update: The building is looking better and better each day. This week in our efforts to improve the physical space here at Annandale. John Ellenberger and his crew continue to paint classrooms while custodians clean the classroom floors. In addition, we have made major improvements in the courtyards.
