Woodson Pyramid Listening Session:

A Conversation about Equity

The Woodson Pyramid is comprised of Woodson High School and it’s feeder schools: Frost Middle School, Canterbury Woods, Fairfax Villa, Little Run, Mantua, Olde Creek, and Wakefield Forest.  The Woodson Pyramid Principals invite our communities to come together on August 11 from 7-8 PM to engage in a shared conversation around Cultural Proficiency/Cultural Responsiveness in our pyramid.  This town hall will be facilitated by our Equity Leads and administrators from each school.  We will present 3-5 guiding questions to solicit feedback around experiences and practices in our school community.  This discussion will allow schools to draw similarities for future work around equity and Cultural proficiency/Cultural Responsiveness throughout our pyramid schools.  Each school will hold a follow up town hall at another time to share specific actions happening in each individual school to address Cultural Proficiency / Cultural Responsiveness.  We hope you will join us to contribute to the conversation, a link will come to our families on Tuesday, August 11 via News You Choose.

Have a school laptop at home?

We want to make sure your laptop is ready for when school starts!  It is important that you do the following EACH WEEK:

  • Plug the laptop into an outlet
  • Turn the laptop on and let it boot up
  • Ensure it is connected to the internet
  • Let the laptop sit for 30 minutes. No additional log-ins or activities are required.

By doing these things, you will ensure your laptop has all of the updates and you will be ready to go when school starts!

PTA School Supplies, Yearbooks, & Class Pictures

Be on the look out for information about the PTA school supplies pick up date in an upcoming News You Choose. To save you a trip, we will coordinate with the PTA to also distribute yearbooks and class pictures on this same day. Stay tuned!

Summer Office Hours and Registration

While the Little Run office staff continues to telework, we are now able to meet with families in person via appointment.

If you need assistance with anything or to schedule an appointment, please do not hesitate to reach out to Marianne McLaughlin at mlmclaughlin@fcps.edu or Monica Mohr at memohr@fcps.edu.

If you would like to register your child for school, please email Victoria Reyes at vvreyes@fcps.edu. Mrs. Reyes will reach out to families who have already completed their registrations to schedule an appointment. Please visit https://www.fcps.edu/registration/general-registration-requirements for registration information.

We look forward to seeing our families!

Mental Wellness Consultations

The FCPS Office of Intervention and Prevention Services will continue to offer mental wellness consultations throughout the summer. If you have concerns about your child’s well-being or if your child would like to speak with a school psychologist or school social worker, please request a consultation.  Our FCPS mental health providers are available to help families get needed support through a 45-minute phone consultation or through secure video conferencing. Appointments are open to all FCPS families.

Consultations are offered in two ways:

  • Directly to parents of students in any grade level. This consultation provides an opportunity for parents to receive guidance on how to support their child’s social-emotional, behavioral, or academic functioning. Information about community resources will also be made available.
  • Directly to students in middle or high school. This consultation provides support and strategies to students who may be experiencing difficulties with anxiety, mood, behavior, or peer or family interactions; as well as academic challenges such as organization, time-management, or adjusting to a new school.

We encourage parents to take advantage of this service. Click here to request a consultation. You may also leave us a message at 571-423-4276.
