Update from Dr. Smith

Bruin Families!

This week has been an energizing week as we met with our teacher leaders and department chairs to continue preparing for the school year ahead.  We are excited about our work this year to further the goals of our Shared Vision and ensure that we have a successful opening.  Below we shared with you the final version of our Shared Vision that will guide our conversations and work this year.

This week FCPS Leadership kicked off the school year with the FCPS Leadership Conference and Region Kickoff events.  Dr. Brabrand shared that Equity will be the at the center of everything we do in FCPS, and we also heard from Dr. Ibram X. Kendi on the concept of antiracism.  The Lake Braddock Pyramid Principals hosted our first conversation on racial equality with our community to understand and continue to work on creating a welcoming community for all of our families.  Lake Braddock staff are committed to the work of Equity and we are committed to continue listening, learning and taking action to make our schools more inclusive an welcoming for all the students and families in Bruin Nation.

We know that families want to hear more information on the return to school in the fall, specifically at Lake Braddock.  On Thursday this week, we welcome you to join us for a virtual parent coffee at 6:00 pm to discuss the opening of school this year.  Thursday morning parents will receive an email with the link for the event.

With the school year officially begin this week for FCPS Leadership, we are excited about the year ahead.  While we won't be physically together in the beginning, we are working hard to create innovative ways to keep the positive energy of the Lake Braddock community alive.

United as Bruins,

Daniel W. Smith, Ed.D.

The Lake Braddock Shared Vision

The new Vision for Lake Braddock was crafted through a yearlong process with input from all stakeholders in the Lake Braddock community. It is designed to guide our daily instruction and decision making processes. Our new Vision puts a focus on the Knowledge and Skills our students will need when they graduate Lake Braddock while also emphasizing the importance of growing their understanding of themselves and their community. Please explore our new Shared Vision for instruction and how we support all our Bruins at Lake Braddock.
