Each student at your child’s school is receiving an FCPS-issued laptop. If you wish to opt your child out of receiving the FCPS-issued laptop and have your student use a personally owned laptop instead, please keep in mind that FCPS issued laptops have information, and software specific to the instructional practice at your school that might be impacted by the introduction of a personal laptop.
Any FCPS student applications with licensing agreements that require installation on FCPS laptops cannot be installed on personally owned laptops. FCPS licensing agreements do not permit installation on personal devices. As a result, parents will need to assume responsibility for acquiring and installing those applications on a personally owned laptop.
Should you choose to Opt Out, you will need to complete the OPT-OUT form which is accessible by clicking the following link. https://www.fcps.edu/sites/default/files/media/pdf/Opt%20Out%20Form%20Final%20080219.pdf
This form must be returned by September 30, 2020.
Please note that by signing this form, you acknowledge that you understand the requirements for personally owned devices to be used.
Don’t have internet access at home? Ensure your student is ready to begin school online by requesting a county issued Mifi device here. Please note that up to 5 devices are able to connect for instructional purposes. Only one Mifi per household.
