Fairview Fanfare - July 22

July 22, 2020

summer

Dear Fairview Families,

As announced by Dr. Brabrand last night, we will begin online school for all students on Tuesday, September 8. The Fairview Staff is already engaged in planning to ensure a dynamic and positive start to the new school year. Here are some facts we know about the virtual model:

  • Online learning provides four days (Tuesday through Friday) of live, face-to-face instruction with teachers.
  • The elementary day will consist of additional small group instruction, intervention supports, and independent learning activities assigned to students.
  • Student work will be graded and attendance is required.
  • Mondays will remain a teacher planning day.

The Fairview Staff continues to have our students’ needs at the forefront of our thinking. We miss our students, and we are excited to reconnect with your families in the coming weeks. We will remain in touch as additional details about our return to learning emerge.

Sincerely,

Sara Van Aalst

Principal

Fairview Garden Care

Do you need a break from the stress we are all experiencing these days? Would you like to feel connected to Fairview and spend some time outside in the fresh air? FCPS school gardens are officially open, and Fairview's garden is going strong! We could really use some help with watering and upkeep. Take a look at the sign up, and please reach out to Ms. Wotowiec or Ms. Wheaton with any questions.

The Summer Practice Books will be coming out later this month, so be on the look-out in your mailboxes. Digital versions of the practice books and the answer keys will also be posted on the Continuity of Learning Blackboard page.

iReady digital lessons through the FCPS public Universal Screener website include skill practice in math and language arts. Students will need to enter their FCPS login credentials to access these resources. These digital activities will be available until Friday, July 31st. Here is a video from Mr. Flint, School Based Technology Specialist, to help you access this additional resource: https://safeyoutube.net/w/oUzK
