Acting Assistant Principal Announcement
Dear Gunston Family,
I hope that you are staying healthy and safe as you relax and enjoy your summer break. As you were recently notified, the search for Gunston’s principal has begun. In order to assist with planning and preparation for the fall we have a new acting assistant principal.
I am excited to share that our acting assistant principal is our very own Ebony Opie until further notice. Mrs. Opie earned her bachelor’s degree from Old Dominion University in 2012, a master’s degree from George Mason University in 2015, and her administration certification from the University of Virginia in May 2020. Mrs. Opie began her teaching journey in Fairfax County Public Schools right here at Gunston. She has taught first and third grade and is an active leader in our school community. While at Gunston, Mrs. Opie has served as a member of the school leadership team, Strategic Planning Committee, Equity Committee, and Lead Mentor. As a member of the Gunston family, Mrs. Opie is excited to serve and provide the consistency for our entire community in her new acting role. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the families, students, and staff in the place she calls home.
