Gentle Reminder

This is a gentle reminder regarding the July 15th deadline for decision-making regarding the two Return to School options. Flint Hill administration and staff appreciate your thoughtful response as knowing our numbers helps us plan accordingly for next year. It is important to emphasize that we will provide an outstanding education no matter what instructional delivery model you choose. We have your children's best interests at heart, and we are committed to following through in order to meet the needs of every student. Thank you, in advance, for your prompt response.

Kung Fu 1

Martial Arts Opportunity!

James Madison High School graduating Senior, Justin Hu, has started a summer initiative with schools, libraries, and his KungFu “dojo” to provide free physical and cultural instruction to help maintain health and global-awareness targets for quarantined students. He has been practicing and competing in martial arts for 11 years, and aspires to cultivate KungFu as a vehicle to widen his experience and passion for community service and education. Justin has recruited KungFu volunteers and is working with his school, Rong’s KungFu Academy, to develop a free remote summer martial arts curriculum.

Taught through online courses, which will be offered two times a week, this opportunity will span from July 15th to August 14th and will be available to all elementary school students. These online courses will be taught live, and students will have the opportunity to perform KungFu movements, learn about its history, and add to the cross-cultural conversations that shape our identities as global citizens. Students may attend as many classes as they would like depending on their own schedules. Simultaneously, he and his teammates will be developing a website so students may learn more about KungFu through online interdisciplinary learning in their own time. He hopes that this project may burgeon into silver-linings where students can build towards FCPS's Portrait of a Gradaute by channeling their motivation and pent-up "quarantine energy" to explore the multicultural dimensions that color our world.

Classes will take place from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Wednesdays and on Fridays. For students who are interested, please fill out the survey below. If students and parents have additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to Justin at justinhu2020@gmail.com. Have a wonderful summer!
