Dear Parents and Guardians:
The following is a summary of the most recent proposal/approvals from the FCPS school board and leadership team.
Below are outcomes, you need to know:
- HS school day hours: 8:10 a.m. – 2:55 p.m. for in school and online courses
- A/B block schedule (approved) versus an 8 period school day
- Rationale for the A/B block schedule:
- fewer student passing times in hallways
- increased weekly instructional time
- access to Academy courses
- increased time for lab courses
- In school students will be assigned as follows:
- Last names beginning with A-K will attend Tuesdays and Thursdays
- Last names beginning with L-Z attend Wednesdays and Fridays
- The deadline for student option and staff preference for in school or online instruction is July 15.
- In school and online course offerings will be based on student enrollment and the availability of certified teachers to provide course instruction in the chosen learning environment
