FCPS Return to Work Guide and Video

Custodians cleaning


FCPS administrative spaces, including school offices, reopened yesterday for employees who are working this summer. FCPS continues to encourage employees who can telework to continue to telework. An FCPS Return to Work Guide and video have been created with details on social distancing guidelines, cleaning and sanitizing, personal protective equipment (PPE), and employee support information. Also, all employees will be asked to take a MyPDE class, acknowledging their responsibilities in following health and safety procedures in the physical workplace. Sean McDonald Serving as Interim Assistant Superintendent, Human Resources

Sean McDonough, Interim Assistant Superintendent, Human Resources


Sean McDonald is serving as interim assistant superintendent of Human Resources until the position can be permanently filled. In July 2015, Sean joined FCPS after working as a special education teacher, assistant principal, and hiring specialist in Charles County Public Schools. He holds a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College), and a bachelor’s degree in elementary and special education from the State University of New York College at Geneseo. Additionally, Sean holds an active SHRM Certified Professional credential from the Society of Human Resources Management and a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) credential from the Human Resource Certification Institute. In August 2017, Sean received the FCPS School Counseling Advocate of the Year Award.

Earn Your $100 Wellness Incentive During Summer Break!

Employees participating in an FCPS health plan as the primary cardholder can earn a $100 wellness incentive when they complete their online health assessment (HA) by December 31.

The HA is an online questionnaire related to your general health and well-being. It's easy to complete, takes about 15-20 minutes, and is confidential. Only you and your health plan receive the individual information. It is never shared with FCPS, in compliance with state and federal privacy laws. Click on your health plan to get started:

Free Employee Fitness Classes in July

FCPS Employee Wellness is continuing to host free live fitness classes this month, in partnership with Inova Well. There is something for everyone from Pure Stretch to Cardio Kickboxing. You can view class recordings and detailed class descriptions on the Employee Wellness website on the intranet. Sign up for a class.

On July 11, 1870, Fairfax County Public Schools was established with the passage of the Virginia Public Free Schools Act. This significant milestone serves as a great opportunity for us to reflect on how far we have come as well as the important work we must continue to do, in order to create an inclusive and compassionate environment where all students and staff are seen, heard, and valued.
