Dear Sleepy Hollow Families,

The possible scenarios for the reopening of schools for the 2020-2021 school year were shared with the School Board this week. You may find more information here. 

This is the Summer Learning Information link. You should expect to receive Language Arts and Math review workbooks, as well as ESOL workbooks for ELD levels 1 & 2 through the mail, by June 29th. Sleepy Hollow staff will be providing office hours through Blackboard Collaborate Ultra from Monday, June 29 - Friday, July 31. All students should monitor their school email for upcoming information from their Summer Learning teachers. The summer learning teaching staff may be contacted through their emails below. Students will attend the grade level they attended in the 2019-2020 school year.

Please remind students of Student Rights & Responsibility regarding technology use. Students may ONLY log on and participate in virtual learning with their assigned teachers. It is during these learning opportunities that they are able to be monitored by an FCPS staff member. Both laptop and technology use are for educational use ONLY. VDOE Partnership with Spanish-Language Radio Station Supports Learning for Students and Families

The Virginia Department of Education is pleased to announce a partnership with Radio Poder WBTK 1380 AM — a Richmond Spanish-language station — to launch “Virginia: Educación en Radio,” the commonwealth’s first bilingual radio learning program.  “Virginia: Educación en Radio” will feature prerecorded lessons in multiple subject areas to support continuity of learning for Spanish-speaking students in grades K-12 while schools are closed to slow the spread of COVID-19. “Virginia: Educación en Radio” will air instructional content Monday-Friday from 10:30-11 a.m. Programming on Fridays will focus on resources, activities and educational tips for families. A replay of each week’s lessons will be available on Saturdays from 4-6:30 p.m.

Students and parents can access “Virginia: Educación en Radio” by one of the following means:

  • Listening live at 1380 AM in the Richmond area from 10:30-11 a.m., Monday-Friday
  • Listening to lessons on demand at radiopoder1380.com
  • Listening live by phone at (206) 629-0249 or (641) 715-8936 

Lessons and topics will be announced on Fridays and posted online at radiopoder1380.com/educacion. Students and families will be encouraged to text in image files of completed work or activity to (804) 571-1380 for a chance to have it featured on the “Virginia: Educación en Radio” website.
