This Week at Langley

The FCPS Office of Intervention and Prevention Services will continue to offer mental wellness consultations throughout the summer. If you have concerns about your child’s well-being or if your child would like to speak with a school psychologist or school social worker, please request a consultation.  Our FCPS mental health providers are available to help families get needed support through a 45-minute phone consultation or through secure video conferencing. Appointments are open to all FCPS families.

Consultations are offered in two ways:

  • Directly to parents of students in any grade level. This consultation provides an opportunity for parents to receive guidance on how to support their child’s social-emotional, behavioral, or academic functioning. Information about community resources will also be made available.
  • Directly to students in middle or high school. This consultation provides support and strategies to students who may be experiencing difficulties with anxiety, mood, behavior, or peer or family interactions; as well as academic challenges such as organization, time-management, or adjusting to a new school.

We encourage parents to take advantage of this service. Click here to request a consultation. You may also leave us a message at 571-423-4276.

High School Continuity of Learning Details

FCPS school buildings will remain closed through the end of July. Therefore, we will continue to provide optional, virtual learning opportunities for students from June 29 to July 31. Students currently in grades 9-11 will have access to a Google Site that provides practice on essential skills to review over the summer. The Google Site(s) will be located on the Free Summer Offerings page and will be live by June 24. The Mathematics site will focus on practice of essential mathematics content. The Language Arts site will provide practice on grammar and mechanics and offer choice reading opportunities.

To support student learning from June 29 to July 31, teachers will hold one hour per week of “office hours” for Continuity of Learning. Office hours for Mathematics, Language Arts, English Language Development and Special Education will be with one of our own outstanding staff members and are intended to support students with the digital practice resources and the English Language Development Summer Practice Book. Attendance is optional.

To register for office hours with Langley teachers and receive a secure link, students please complete this form on your FCPS computer. Once registered, you will receive log-in information through your FCPS Google email address (studentID@fcpsschools.net) prior to the first session.

Langley High School Online Math Boot Camp - Summer 2020

Overview:  Boot Camp is designed to prepare students for the math course they will be taking during the 2020-2021 school year.  We offer four different camps, with each offering classes in Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Pre-Calculus. Students should sign up for the class that they will be taking during the coming year.  The two-week course is designed to introduce students to their upcoming curriculum and reinforce crucial prerequisite knowledge.  Students will take part in two 45-minute interactive virtual lessons per day. Teachers will also hold daily office hours for students to receive individual help. The program will be taught by experienced Langley High School math teachers who are experts in their subject.  Class sizes are small (around 10 students), so each participant will receive lots of individual attention and continuous feedback.
