Terra Centre Updates 6-17-20

Terra Centre Families,

Summer is officially here!  We hope you all have a safe, relaxing, and fun summer!

Please join me in welcoming back Maura Pratt, our amazing assistant principal!!! She’s been focused on her health and completing her treatments. She is now in remission and ready to dive back into Terra Centre! I want to take a moment to sincerely thank Carrie Pratt, who filled in as our assistant principal in Maura’s absence. She jumped in with both feet in January and supported us all the way up until the last day of school! We wish her the best in her new adventures and hope she’ll come back to visit!

New kindergarten and grade 1-6 student registrations are being accepted! Registration numbers directly impact our staffing. Registering now is essential as this helps to keep class sizes at optimal numbers for the best learning environment for all students. Please encourage new families or families with rising kindergarteners to visit the Terra Centre Website, or to contact Dee Cunningham via cmcunningham@fcps.edu or 703-249-1401. Registrations are done via email. See below for additional details and links.

Please be sure to scroll down for information on: Progress Reports, 2020-2021 School Year Info, Summer Learning and Bingo Boards, School Supply Lists and PTA Kits, 2020-2021 Staff Updates, Kindergarten Orientation, and Registration/Withdrawal Information.

Please contact us with questions. We can be reached at regidoni@fcps.edu and mapratt@fcps.edu.

Summer Learning Opportunities

FCPL Summer

Fairfax County Public Library

The Fairfax County Public Library

is sponsoring a virtual Summer Reading Adventure!

Visit the FCPL website for additional details.

FCPS Summer Continuity of Learning

FCPS school buildings will remain closed through the end of July. Therefore, we will continue to provide recommended distance learning opportunities for students throughout the summer. Your students will have access to skill practice through the iReady digital lessons through the FCPS public Universal Screener website. Students will need to enter their FCPS login credentials to access these resources. These digital activities will be available until Friday, July 31.

Additionally, students currently in grades K-6 will receive both a Mathematics and a Language Arts Essentials Summer Practice Book in the mail by the end of June. Digital versions of the books will also be posted on the Continuity of Learning Blackboard page. These books will provide recommended practice activities for students to review essential content from the 2019-2020 school year; they are not intended to preview content from next year’s grade level but rather reinforce essential learning from this past year.

As students access these activities from June 29 to July 31, they will have the opportunity to attend one virtual office hour each week with one of our own outstanding staff members. To register your student for office hours and receive a secure link, please complete this form (click here). Once registered, your child will receive log-in information via their FCPS Google email address prior to the first session.

The schedule is as follows:
