Have a Great Summer

Summer Continuity of Learning

FCPS school buildings will remain closed through the end of July. Therefore, we will continue to provide recommended distance learning opportunities for students throughout the summer. Students will have access to skill practice through the iReady digital lessons through the FCPS public Universal Screener website. Students will need to enter their FCPS login credentials to access these resources. These digital activities will be available until Friday, July 31st.

Additionally, students currently in grades K-6 will receive both a Mathematics and a Language Arts Essentials Summer Practice Book in the mail by the end of June. Digital versions of the books will also be posted on the Continuity of Learning Blackboard page. These books will provide recommended practice activities for students to review essential content from the 2019-2020 school year; they are not intended to preview content from next year’s grade level but rather reinforce essential learning from this past year.

As students access these activities from June 29 to July 31, they will have the opportunity to attend one virtual office hour each week with one of our own outstanding staff members. Our schedule is as follows:

  • Kindergarten: Tuesdays @ 2:30 with Ms. Salazar
  • First Grade: Mondays @ 9:30 with Ms. Clay
  • Second Grade: Wednesdays @ 12:30 with Ms. Abedy
  • Third Grade: Tuesdays @ 11:30 with Ms. Ideran
  • Fourth Grade: Tuesdays @ 8:30 with Ms. Costello
  • Fifth Grade: Mondays @ 8:30 with Ms. Niccoli
  • Sixth Grade: Tuesdays @ 9:30 with Ms. Oehrlein
  • Special Education: Mondays @ 12:30 with Ms. Klawender (3-6) & Wednesdays @ 10:30 with Ms. Skiba (K-2)
  • English Language Development: Wednesdays @11:30 with Ms. Schlife

To participate in office hours, your child will need to log into Blackboard 24-7 at the appropriate time, click on the London Towne Lions course, and then click on their grade level link.

Summer Virtual Field Trip

Join us on our first of five virtual field trips.  This week we will visit several farms. On this trip, you’ll get to visit 11 different virtual farms with an interactive 360 feature, learn how to milk a cow by hand and visit a local farm in Fairfax County.  There are some fun activities planned for you:

  • Learn how to compost
  • Read some great books about farm machinery, farms around the world and there is even a Katie Woo fiction book too.
  • Relax with a farm meditation and watch some goat yoga

It is sure to be a great time, so come on out to the farm! Students, please remember to log on with your Google account (@fcpsschools.net) to access the fun!  Click here to access our trip.
