FCPS Laptop Distribution

As the school year approaches, we are finalizing distribution plans for the technology needs of our students. Families will be able to borrow a FCPS laptop for their Pre-K-3 child(ren) to ensure students can actively participate in digital learning for the 2020-21 school year. If you choose to provide your own device, please note it should be a laptop or desktop computer. Tablets and cell phones are not able to reliably access our virtual learning applications.

There are also arrangements to distribute MiFi devices for students who do not have internet access at home.  If your child meets any of the below criteria, we will arrange for technology access and pick-up:

  • If your child does not have access to a device at home
  • Families with multiple FCPS students who are sharing devices
  • Students who do not have access the Internet at home

ACTION NEEDED: Fill out this form by Friday, August 14 so we can prepare the appropriate amount of devices (ONE FORM PER ENROLLED KPES STUDENT).

In the coming weeks, we will communicate with families the distribution plan to include specific dates and times for laptop pickup. Pick-up will occur before the start of the school year.

Kings Park Return to School Coffee

As we approach the start of the 20-21 school year, we are excited to share with you a first look at some overarching plans. On August 24th from 9am-10am, we are hosting a virtual KPES Family Coffee. During this time we will share the latest updates from FCPS and Kings Park ES. We will be recording this session for those who are unable to attend and will share the recording via our regular KIT on Tuesday, August 25th. Please register here to receive the link to access our meeting. The link will be mailed out to registered families on August 24th @ 8am.

Virtual School Supplies

We are pleased to share that we are currently creating Student Virtual Toolkits for distribution. While we are still fine-tuning and awaiting delivery on some ordered items, each student will have the opportunity receive a Virtual Toolkit prior to the start of the school year. As a reminder each grade levels' supply list can be found on our Kings Park website; please note not all supplies will be required at the start of the year. One ongoing item that is currently not on grade level supply list is writing paper. We will supply students with some paper to start and encourage families to be creative with saving "junk mail" and reusing other paper sources around the house, in addition to the composition books already listed on the supply lists. More details to come soon.

KP Summer Learning & Engagement

This summer we will be sending messages each week with summer virtual activities for students along with a biweekly Summer Family Engagement Series for parents. The Family Engagement Series began this year with a variety of in person opportunities for parents provided by Kings Park and FCPS staff. This series will be updated throughout the summer. These messages will be archived on our website.

Summer Family Engagement Series

Access our biweekly Virtual Summer Family Engagement Series to view new videos and strategies. Each video is less than 10 min long, can be accessed from mobile devices and can be revisited throughout this summer.

This week learn about Critical and Creative Thinking Skills from our Advanced Academics Resource Teacher, Mrs. Keane.

This Week's Virtual Field Trip:

Recently we have all been spending more time close to home but that can't stop our adventurous and learning spirit. Kings Spark is traveling the virtual world on the hunt to learn and experience new things. Look below to see where in the world he is exploring this week.
