Chilton’s Class Rocks: The Rocks of Woodley Hills Elementary

I tell you ALL-this wonderful Woodley Hills 6th Grade Class, Mr. Chilton’s Class, “U All Rock!!!!”  I say it all the time…and its true.  Invariably, someone with a sense of humor will change it to U R Rocks.   Well, in this time of reflection-I’m proud to say that “U R Rocks,” is also true.  Rocks, or bricks form the foundation of any institution, and that is what all of you have done.  You all, through your kind, inquisitive, creative, caring leadership have formed the foundation of an amazing place- Woodley Hills Elementary School…and your legacy will be here forever.

How have we been inquisitive and creative?  By working together to create skits showing characters and events from our novel studies.  Through incredible poetry highlighting your reflections upon things you love.  Through insightful, persuasive essays convincing others of your point of view on school issues.  By convincing a bully to be kind.  By creating tremendous PowerPoint presentations in US History and Science.  As Dr. Khalid exclaimed each and every time I picked you up Friday afternoons, “Phenomenal job, scientists!”  As Mr. Shark affirmed each time he worked with you, “This class is AWESOME!”  As Ms. Clinkscales would say, “Wonderful job today.”  You made me proud to hear these words as you took advantage of every educational opportunity, always putting forth your best effort and asking questions to ensure success.

How have we have been kind and caring? Participating in your education is an awesome way to show kind, caring character.  Again, you proved to be the building blocks of kindness in our school:  Showing your kindness by reading with Ms.  Bradshaw’s 2nd Grade students, representing our class on the News Show, being members of the Chorus with Ms. Tucker and participating in Strings or Band.  I was thrilled to see your marvelous teamwork on our trip to Hemlock and  when you made beautiful Kindness Posters.  Our class sent Student Representatives to our student government and to SLA, class leaders who really took the extra time to think about the welfare of others.  Our patrols made sure arrival and dismissal ran smoothly and safely. As PE Pals, this class knew how to bring smiles to others!  At the end of the year, I was so impressed how this class were ROCKS in showing up each and every day in our virtual world, bringing a smile to my face.

Woodley Hills Elementary School is a wonderful place.  We are fortunate to have been here together.  You all are the rocks-the building blocks, cornerstones, and foundation- that makes this statement  so true... through your inquisitive, creative, kind, caring leadership.  Remember, as you take the next steps on your educational life journey to middle school- be the cornerstone!  U All Rock….and are Rocks of your future.  Thank you so much for all your dedication and hard work at Woodley Hills. Please know that the doors are always open for you to return. The entire community appreciates your efforts!

A Webinar for Families

1-2-3 Magic allows you to get back in charge of your home, enjoy your family again, and help your kids develop their emotional intelligence.

In this presentation, you will learn how to set limits for and connect with your children by breaking down the task of parenting into three straightforward steps:

  • Get your kids to STOP difficult behavior (whining, arguing, tantrums, etc.).
  • Get your kids to START doing what you want them to do (picking up, going to bed, doing homework, etc.).
  • Powerful strategies to reinforce the bond between you and your children.

Presented by Lauren Hawkins and Robin Yuckenberg, FCPS Behavior Intervention Teachers.
