 Dear Families,
As we are rapidly nearing the end of the school year, we have every reason to be thankful. We are thankful for each of the lessons we learned as we navigated instruction in a virtual landscape, realigned our daily practices with new tools and resources, and began to revisit how we can foster more intentional and responsive school communities. While this year has provided us with many challenges, we are grateful for the grace and generosity you have extended to our schools which have helped us to comprehensively support our community’s needs.
As we continue to be patient and await a decision about next year’s model for instruction, we want you to know that we are already refining our focus to include expanding on the engaging and meaningful learning opportunities we offer to all students, strengthening our relationships between our families, students, teachers, and peers, and reinforcing our Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) supports.
We promise to be in touch with you as we determine our next steps after the upcoming School Board decision and want to extend our sincere gratitude, once again, for your resolve during these trying times. We are most appreciative for your faith in our schools and community to further best practices on behalf of your children.
Have a wonderful summer with your families. We will see you online for Continuity of Learning (COL) opportunities and soon thereafter for the 2020-2021 school year!
Warmly,
Greg Hood, Madison High School
Tom Lundy, Cedar Lane School
Catherine Cipperly, Thoreau Middle School
Michelle Makrigiorgos, Louise Archer Elementary School
Liz Calvert, Marshall Road Elementary School

Retirement Announcements
We would like you to join us in wishing JoAnn Azzarello (Band) and Mary Ennis (First Grade) congratulations on their retirements! They have many years at Flint Hill and will be missed!
In this communication, we would like to provide an opportunity for Mrs. Azzarello to share her sentiments with our community. On Friday, Mrs. Ennis will do the same.
Should you want to send well-wishes to either of these memorable teachers, you may contact them directly or through the school.

We have an update! We have been provided the green light to use Zoom for our 6th grade promotion! We have a few parameters in place to ensure this celebration is a success:
- Students will log-on to their teacher's Google Meet at 9:15 am. Their teachers will have a brief discussion with students beforehand and share the link for the Zoom session in the chat. This is the only way to get the link. This will prevent "Zoom Bombing."
- Chat will be disabled, and Ms. Stout will highlight speakers while all will be able to be seen during the celebration. Microphones will be off.
- Please make sure that you minimize background noise/distractions. (pets/siblings)
- We ask that parents attend with their child to ensure behavior is appropriate and commensurate with SR & R standards.
This announcement will be repeated tomorrow on its own. We are grateful for your presence during this special occasion!

Supporting Families and Students
School social workers are dedicated to ensuring students have supports, services and resources to achieve their full potential. This includes concrete needs such as food and housing, clinical interventions, mental health and wellness supports and special education. They do this by creatively building bridges, one relationship at a time, while partnering with students, families, staff and the broader community. Challenging inequity, uplifting culture, and celebrating diversity are key dimensions of social work practice. Would you like to speak with our social worker? Please feel free to contact Heather Van Horn. She is one of the integral members of our clinical faculty and is here to support our school!

Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten registration is upon us! We welcome parents of rising kindergarten students to register their child at their earliest convenience. This helps us get acquainted with our new students and allows us to have our numbers so we can best staff our kindergarten classrooms. Please don't hesitate to share this information with a neighbor, friend, or colleague who lives within our boundaries. We want to ensure we get students registered as early as possible!
