A Fond Farewell

As is true at the end of any school year, we have staff moving on to new opportunities. We are excited to celebrate these opportunities for growth and change with you as some of our Pine Spring family spread their wings in new ways.

Ms. Campbell, Mrs. Chestnut, Mrs. Collymore, Ms. Hluboky, Mrs. Morrison, and Mrs. Fakhoori will all be retiring after many years of dedicated services. We want to thank them for the impact they made on the Pine Spring community and wish them all the best as the begin the next chapter in their lives.

Mrs. Koyama will be moving to Fort Belvoir to support children of Military Families.

Mrs. Mullen will be returning to the classroom at Kings Park Elementary

Mrs. Domingo will be leaving her role at Pine Spring as a part time PE teacher to return to Bren Mar Park community. There she will have the opportunity to be at one school each day.

Mr. Carroll and Ms. Premont will both be leaving our PAC classrooms as IAs to begin their new roles as PAC teachers. We are delighted at these promotions and are excited to to see both of them take the next step in their journey.

Mrs. Bowser will be leaving her role as an Instructional Assistant but will be staying at Pine Spring as a 1st grade teacher! Congratulations Mrs. Bowser!

Please join me in wishing each of these dedicated staff members well as they take their next steps!

6th Grade Promotion

celebration

This year we will host our first ever Virtual Promotion for 6th graders. We encourage parents of 6th grade students to join your child at 10:30AM-11:30AM on June 11, 2020. The 6th grade teachers have put together a recognition ceremony that acknowledges the hard work our Bobcats have put into their time at Pine Spring. You will access the ceremony by clicking on the Google Meets Link for Mrs. O’Connor’s Social Studies Class. Your child will also receive a package in the mail that will have their certificate, as well as a token of accomplishment from the Pine Spring PTA.

Return To Learn Planning

Discussions began with the School Board about our Return to School plans for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year.

We are awaiting guidance from the state about the possible required conditions that will need to be met for schools to reopen. FCPS also plans to seek the input of all stakeholder groups – parents, students, teachers, staff, and administrators – in developing a return to school plan.

The considerations for return to school include the need to:

Ensure safe learning and working environments for students and staff

Provide options for students and staff that are unable to return to school/work

Comply with any social distancing requirements

Provide student access to technology devices and internet services at home

Provide staff with adequate time and training to prepare for the new school year

Make decisions as soon as possible for scheduling and communication with families

We are preparing for a variety of possible scenarios including:

Students will have a virtual start to the school year.

Students will return to school with social distancing in place.

School will open on time, but some students and/or staff may be unable to return and will participate through virtual learning.

The preliminary report presented to the School board is available here.

Moving?

We hope to see everyone at Pine Spring in the fall. However, if your life takes you in a different direction, please be sure to reach out to Ms. Breeden for support. She will be able to help you with the withdrawal paperwork and will schedule a time for you to drop off any borrowed FCPS materials such as laptops and MIFI devices.
